PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

Violence Against Children Survey (VACS) Internship with Centers for Disease Control January 2019- May 2019
Implementation Team Intern. 40 Hours/ Week
The VACS project is a collaboration with African and South American countries to collect data on children (13-17 yrs. old)
that have experienced sexual, physical, or emotional violence in order to implement programs to prevent childhood
violence.
 Currently working with Moldova, Mozambique, Ivory coast, and Lesotho to begin the process of data collection
in each country.
 Assists CDC’s Health Educator Specialist to create a training program for different population groups and their
interviewers, team leaders, and VACS trainers. The workshops consist of strategies the interviewers, team
leaders, and VACS trainers can communicate the survey and facilitate discussions that come from the interview.
 Collaborate with CDC Epidemiologists in reviewing and monitoring data to look for trends in the different
countries.
 Conducts literature reviews from data collected by various countries on adolescent males who are physically,
sexually, and emotionally abused in Uganda.

Live Healthy Baldwin May 2018


Child Obesity Advocate Volunteer
 Collaborated with a team of 8 people to develop and implement two health promotion programs that aimed to
educate and promote healthy eating in a community. This impacted the community by creating access to
healthy foods and physical activity.
 Researched trends of childhood and adult obesity, exercise, access to healthy food/public transportation in
Baldwin County and attended community meetings to understand what the members of this community
needed, but also what they wanted. This led to the development of implementing a program that helps prevent
obesity.
 Presented a community health needs assessment plan and implemented a greenhouse and baseball fields for
the community of Baldwin County. These projects served about 1,500 people in Baldwin County. The project
was shared with various organizations and agencies in the Baldwin County area.

Public Health Belize Study Abroad, GCSU San Ignacio, Belize


Chronic Disease Educator May 2017
 Collaborated with various nonprofit and community-based organizations in Belize to collect data on health
through 4 free health fairs testing blood pressure, glucose, cholesterol, body mass index, and heart rate on 300
children, adults, and elders.
 Administered athletic training and occupational therapy sessions to 40 high schoolers and 20 senior citizens in
the San Ignacio community.
 Analyzed data from health fairs by grouping them in different categories based of their health. Each year results
are compared to last years to see if the health education is aiding the obesity and injuries in the community.
Casting Crowns, Grammy Award Winning Christian Band December 2016- May 2017

 Traveled for 6 months with this company/band around the United States to provide educational and complex
medical care to 3 children ages 9, 14, and 17. Focused on the following subjects: Anatomy and Physiology, Math,
English, and Science.
 Students increased grades by 90%.

COMMUNITY INVOLVEMENT:
Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA), Georgia July 2018- present
Volunteer
The National Court Appointed Special Advocate Association, together with its state and local member programs,
supports and promotes court-appointed volunteer advocacy so every abused or neglected child in the United States can
be safe, have a permanent home and have the opportunity to thrive.
 Appointed by Newton County juvenile court judge to review cases of children in foster care. Collaborate with the
Department of Family and Children Services (DFCS), case managers, and judges to provide recommendations for
the child. Currently the youngest appointed CASA in the metropolitan Atlanta area.
 Currently assigned to one foster child to determine where the child is placed, what medical attention is needed,
and what other services need to be put in place in order to create recommendations.
 Facilitated conversations with those involved in an appointed child’s case to advocate for the child’s best
interest.
Oak Hill Middle School/ Tutoring Center August 2018-
January 2019
Tutor Volunteer
 Tutored 30 elementary, middle, and high students in Literacy, Math, English, and Biology to increase/improve
reading and math skills/knowledge.
 Increased Milestone testing scores by 35% in 6th and 7th grade in Math, English, and Biology.

Crossroads Pregnancy Crisis Center January 2018- December 2018


Health Educator/ Counselor Volunteer
 Served as a Health Educator to assist an average of 12 women weekly with unplanned pregnancies, STI/HIV’s
screenings, and counseling. (add a statement about assisting women in making informed health decisions).
 About 70% of women were screened for HIV/STI’s. This caused 90% of those women to receive treatment for
HIV or their STI’s.
 Provided education on contraceptives, women’s health issues, breast-feeding, miscarriages, and overall health
and wellness.
 Monitored STI/HIV trends and consulted with the Baldwin County Health Departments on ways to educate
women and come up with trainings to inform women in the colleges of Milledgeville as well as the high schools.

Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority August 2015- Present
The purpose of Zeta Tau Alpha is the intensifying of friendship, the fostering of a spirit of love, the creating of such
sentiments, the performing of such deeds, and the molding of such opinions as will be conducive to the building up of a
purer and nobler womanhood in the world.
 Chaplain January 2018- January 2019
- Hosted bible studies every week in order to create community in the sorority.
 Service Chair January 2016- January 2017
- provided service/volunteer opportunities from 247 women and lead these women to complete over 10,000
service hours all over Georgia.
Public Health Student Organization August 2015- December 2018
The Georgia College Public Health Student Organization (PHSO) is a student organization committed to developing
community public health awareness through volunteer work, service-learning, and following the shared Public Health
mission to Promote, Protect and Serve.
