The definition of nursing home according to the Big Indonesian Dictionary, said
nursing home is defined as a place to care for and accommodate elderly people,
and Regional Regulation No, 15 of 2002 concerning Amendment to Perda No. 15
of 2000 concerning Regional Services, the Tresna Werdha Social Institution was
renamed the Social Protection Center of Tresna Werdha.
Facilities for nursing homes are regulated in the Legislation Regulations and the
Implementation of Disabled Persons Article 12, Article 13, Article 14 and Article
15 which cover access to and from inside buildings, doors, stairs, elevators,
parking lots, toilets and several others in accessibility to public buildings. In the
Ministry of Social Affairs seniors are included in the category of persons with
disabilities, mental and physical.
Though leaving parents who have retired in a nursing home there are positives
and negatives. It's not just a negative matter. Besides, if there are a lot of
negatives, it is impossible for the government to give operational permission to
this nursing home.
The following are explained the positives and negatives of entrusting parents in
nursing homes:
Positive
1. There is a carer
One reason to leave parents in nursing homes is no time to care for them. When
parents are treated in a nursing home, their survival is even more secure.
In a nursing home, don't worry about maintenance problems. Her care is a lot
(elderly / micmrc)
Instead of being in their homes, they are often overlooked, so they can be taken to
nursing homes. There, there are officers who make sure all their needs are met.
2. There is a friend
Grandparents also need socialization. In nursing homes, many peers can be invited
to chat with.
If at home, maybe their friends are just television or radio. Must be bored.
Socialization can make people happier
In addition to socializing, parents can move regularly here. One of them is sports.
Even grandparents can be avoided from boredom. Plus can be healthier because
you can exercise regularly.
Nursing homes also provide facilities to meet the needs of opa and grandmothers.
Among them treatment.
Negative
Passing them to a nursing home means we can't meet them every day. Visits can
only be done according to schedule, usually weekends.
So, you can't monitor them directly. Even so, we can request reports from nursing
home care staff who provide care.
2. Not surrounded by family
Even though they are surrounded by peers, grandparents cannot meet children and
grandchildren every day. The family goes further
That is, we must prepare costs to entrust parents in nursing homes. Do not get in
the middle of the road parents are sent home because of lack of costs
It is very fortunate for seniors who still have family members such as
children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, relatives and relatives in general to
help maintain with patience and sacrifice. But for those who have no family or
relatives because they are single, or have a spouse who does not have children and
their spouse has died, let alone living in their own country, often being displaced.
This is where the importance of the Elderly Home as a place for maintenance and
care for the elderly.
WHY SHOULD WE HAVE IT
Elderly existence can be mandatory under certain conditions. This is due to the
presence of neglected parents because they do not have children or relatives.
However, according to Sheikh Abdullah al-Faqih, in the Alarab website it was
stressed that it would be very unethical and despicable if a child or family "threw
away" their parents or relatives who had aged to a certain shelter.
In fact, the family concerned is able to take care of it. According to him this is
inhumane.
Keep in mind that Islam strongly emphasizes the importance of good treatment of
both parents or relatives in old age.
As Muslims, we can remember the Surah Al-Israa 'verse 23, "And your Lord has
commanded that you do not worship other than Him and should do your best to
your father as well as possible."
In the letter we will be more convinced that God has arranged everything,
including the matter of taking care of parents.
Where mentioned by the word of God in Q.S Al Isra verses 23 and 24 which read:
Meaning: "And your god has commanded that you do not worship
besides Him and that you should do your best to your father as well as you can.
If one of the two or both of them reaches old age in your care, then never say to
both the words "ah" and do not yell at them and say to them noble words. And
humble yourself towards both of them with affection and say, 'O my Lord, love
both of them as both of them have loved me in childhood'. (Surat al-Isra: 23-
24)
WHY THE CHILDREN IGNORE THAN
Elderly people who enter social care institutions are those who are neglected or
known to have no family. Social institutions that are actively involved include
these neglected elderly people. Whereas if the elderly are in paid nursing homes -
or even just day care for the elderly, the fall is not neglect or as many people
think, the form of "throwing away" parents.
In contrast to the elderly who chose to live in the orphanage because, among
others, they already knew the advantages and benefits of living in a home, such as
good care (ranging from physical health to psychology), friends of the same age,
and busy activities, elderly who lived alone or with children (and grandchildren)
are more vulnerable to stress or depression due to friction with the environment,
including their own families, whether intentionally or not.
