To Whom It May Concern:

Hello! My name is Patrick Braun. I am a Spanish instructor at Washtenaw International High School in Ypsilanti,
Michigan. I am writing on behalf of Daniel Archundia-Garcia to recommend him for the position of Spanish teacher.

I have had the pleasure of working with Daniel as a teaching intern for the past several months in my International
Baccalaureate Middle Years Programme (MYP) Spanish 1 and Diploma Programme (DP) Spanish classes. As I have
been blessed to work with him during this school year, I have come to know Daniel as a caring and incredibly
reflective teacher who has been a true asset in my classroom.

Thus far in the school year, Daniel has chosen to go above and beyond the call of a teaching intern by taking on a
number of the responsibilities typical of full time teachers. A few of these responsibilities include helping in the
development of our relatively new Spanish 1 curriculum, team-teaching lessons with me, developing and
implementing his own instructionally sound lessons based on current research in language acquisition, giving
regular feedback to students, and attending our school’s staff meetings and professional development seminars. In
each of these capacities, Daniel has demonstrated both a natural talent for the necessary skills of teaching, and a
wonderful willingness to reflect upon his practice and make adjustments where necessary. Each time that Daniel
has been in front of students this year, he has been hungry for feedback and eager to adapt in order to best reach
his students. In this sense, Daniel possesses the most essential characteristic of any teacher: coachability. Daniel is
the lifelong learner that he desires for his students to be, and his reflective nature will mean that he continues to be
a better teacher from day to day, and from year to year.

I mentioned that Daniel has gone above and beyond the call of typical teaching interns. One way in which he has
done this is by taking on a long-term substitute position in my classroom as I have been on paternity leave this
year. Daniel has truly stepped up by taking the reins in my classroom and “flying solo” in the sense that he is
currently leading my classes without my help or guidance. It is a true testament to the trust that he has garnered
with myself and the administration of my school to allow him to take on such a position as a student teacher. This
experience will undoubtedly pay dividends in terms of his ability to take charge of his own classroom in the near
future.

Daniel is a caring and incredibly reflective teacher who will add to and enhance the culture on your campus. Thank
you for your time and consideration. Please do not hesitate to contact me with any questions or concerns that you
may have.
