SUB TOPIC: History of Netball in Jamaica.

OBJECTIVE: Discuss briefly the history and development of netball in Jamaica.

State the world netball championships that the sunshine girls have participated in.

List the names of the players and their position(s) that was on the world cup team.

class designed for the normal student. There are 20 understudies in the class, ten male and ten

females. The understudies' ages go from 11 to 13 years. There is no understudy with learning

incapacities. Conventional Jamaicans are prevailing in the class be that as it may, one understudy

is from the American culture. Lion's share of the females comprehends the historical backdrop of
netball; while the guys aren't mindful about the historical backdrop of netball. The greater part of

the understudies has solid parental help. 2 Students played netball at the essential dimension they

took an interest in the NCB netball rivalry. Every understudy got a chart with the netball court

and its measurements from the past class. From the past class understudies were advised to

peruse and end up proficient of the positions that are utilized in netball. Understudies with earlier

information, the 10 understudies that know about the game can clarify what they think about

netball. Every one of the understudies are liberal and demonstrate that they are eager to become

familiar with the game.

Learning Style

 Students have various styles of learning. Most students are Kinesthetic learners and a

few of them are categorized for Visual and Verbal learning styles.

 The students dislike using textbooks. They prefer to use technology in finding

information.

 They appear to learn while in groups and interact with each other.

At the end of the lesson the students should be able to:

 Discuss briefly the history and development of netball in Jamaica.

 State the world netball championships that the sunshine girls have participated in.

Methods, Media, Material

A PowerPoint presentation is prepared for the students, at the end of the PowerPoint is an

informative video, these two components will broaden the students’ knowledge about netball

with enough information that will meet the demands of the objective. The PowerPoint

presentation provides information about history of netball in Jamaica, the championship that the

sunshine girls have participated in, list the names of the players and their position(s) that was on

the world cup team. Students will observe the presentation and prepare themselves to answer

questions that the teacher will ask at the end of the presentation. The teacher will ask the students

to write on plain paper year netball was introduced to Jamaica, the names of the sunshine girls

player and the name of the champion the sunshine girls have participated in.

Utilize Media and Materials:

Media to be utilized in this lesson are videos, PowerPoint. These media selections will

accommodate the three styles of learners that are in the class which will engage each and every

one to participate in the activities. Materials to be utilized in this lesson are plain paper, pencil,

computer, projector, projector screen. An adequate amount of plain paper is provided incase

students make mistakes they can have another paper if necessary. The video was reviewed and

the length of the video was taken into consideration because the objective of the lesson is to

allow the students to watch the video along with performing other activities within the class

period. The teachers ensured that all students had computers to their needs comfortably. The
projector and projector screen will be used to give students a clear image and view of the

information (PowerPoint presentation) on a bigger surface where they all can see and listen to

teacher as the information is presented.

The objective of the lesson was discussed between the teacher and students, and all of the
students had a basic understanding of what was expected.

After the PowerPoint presentation and watching the video, the teacher will ask students questions
to find out how much information they gain from the presentation and the video. Examples of the
question’s teacher will ask are:
 Name one thing you have learned from the presentation.
 Can you identify the year netball was introduced to Jamaica?

ACTIVITY 1: Students will watch a video and that video will show the students when netball

was introduced in Jamaica.

ACTIVITY 2: Teacher will engage the students in a question and answer to find out if the

students are familiar with the history.

ACTIVITY 3: The teacher will show students pictures of the growth of netball in Jamaica.

CULMINATING ACTIVITY 5: The teacher will engage the students in an activity where they
will use the pencil and plain paper provided to write all that they had learnt.
Evaluation and Revise
Students will be placed in groups and each group will research and the history and development
in netball. The teacher will find out if the students fully understand what was taught to them.
