Lesson Planning Framework

Teacher/Conductor’s Name: Jayne Pierson

Rehearsal 1 2 3

Prior Knowledge/Skills (What do already know and can do?):

The students have already played through Heatherwood Portrait a couple of times with Mrs. Oatney. They are familiar with the form
and structure of the overall work. They are aware of dynamics and some articulations. I have also worked with the students to combat
their issue with rushing the running eighth notes.

Rehearsal Objective (What will your student’s be able to do as a result of this rehearsal with you?)
Students will collectively create a story using Heatherwood Portrait as the inspiration.
Using the story they create students will add musical elements such as articulation and dynamics to elevate their final performance.

Assessment of the Rehearsal (How will you know if your students can do what they need to?)
The assessment will take place in two parts. Todays assessment will be participating in discussion and transfer skills to their
performance. At a later date students will find a picture to represent their story and they must describe why they chose this. This will be
the final assessment.

Relevant Contextual Factors: Modifications/Accommodations needed:

song on YouTube as well.
