For this meme, I chose the topic of alienation from chapter 4, specifically alienation from the

product. In the textbook, this means that the “worker does not have the opportunity to relate to

the product he works on” (Introduction to Sociology 82). The textbook gives the example of a

worker in a factory, and that he doesn’t really care what he is making, just that the “job exists”

(Introduction to Sociology 82). One example I came up with is someone working in a high-end

designer company. In assignment 4, I gave the example of a woman working for Gucci, and how

alienation from the worker’s products means that she will not be able to take the shoes home just

because she works there. The worker doesn’t have the right to what they make. This meme

illustrates alienation from the product because the girl’s face is…sour, to put it lightly.

Obviously, there exists people who are upset about the fact that they don’t have the right to their

own product, and this girl’s face illustrates this feeling perfectly.
