Rough Draft
In a world full of meaning and visuals, in class we discussed many of them. I went
through a lot of images and this on spoke to me the most. It is a picture of a man that is a candle.
He later is bending over and the kids have no heads and he pours his wax into there heads to help
this grow. If you look above the photo there are words that read, “Respect your teacher…” I
really agree with the points this image is making in the text and what it is showing through just
the picture alone. There are a lot of things that go into the image alone and to better understand
the text breaking it down is the best way to get and take in all of the information.
Using ethos, logos and pathos it really helps the audience looking at the picture break it
down. First, you can take a look at it and it to me instantly shows pathos.. It has a lot of emotion
in the image and even with the little words that come along with it. With the first glance you may
sit there and wonder why they’re made out of candle wax. This is a beautiful way of showing
how teachers give what they have to let the younger or people they’re teaching grow and learn.
This shows emotion because we don’t really see how much teachers do for us. Personally, my
mom is a teacher so, I see the struggles she goes through and how hard teaching and helping kids
can get on her (mind you she’s in a elementary school and she is with special need kids). The
candle is taking his wax and pouring it into the bodies of the children showing that teachers are
the reason we grow and learn at such a young age and that’s a huge part of our growth as
children.

Ethos is a little harder to find in this image just because there isn’t a lot of credibility, but
with the ethics part there is it’s the moral of just being respectful towards your teacher because
they’re the reason we grow at such a young age. The moral view on the teacher is them knowing
they’re doing the right thing helping the kids we just have to make sure we see what they do for
us and respect it. With using logic in the image it’s good to know that teachers are the reason we
grow and develop into the people we are. At such a young age we are put in school and we are
learning. If the people who where teaching the young why would we want people who don’t help
our kids develop teaching our kids. In the image it also shows how every kid is the exact same.
You can even use this to say how the teacher helps kids find and grow into who they really are as
The overall purpose of this image is to help people to see all that our educators do for our
kids or even now in college this goes with the same concept. They help us grow, their knowledge
they have by giving it to us. and we should take the time to respect them and thank them. That’s
why I believe the words are stated in the text, “Respect your teacher…” are so important because
it shows exactly what they’re trying to show. Teacher do so much for us and helping our minds
develop by giving us their knowledge. The image is just simply trying to show and remind
people how much teachers truly do for us and it is demonstrated perfectly with this image. With
the way everyone is dressed the same and look the same to me it’s like that for a purpose to show
that they also help us become different people and become unique and find our own person.
It is a very bland and boring picture no color, no loud words. This picture is just trying to
get their point across and show how much teachers do for us and maybe a good majority of the
time we don’t see that and we take advantage of it. A lot of kids don’t notice how much teachers
do for us at the end of the day that’s why the words are displayed in the photo as well to help get
