Kids in Prison is an article explaining why it is more harmful than helpful to have preteens in prison after

being convicted of a crime and being tried as an adult. This article includes real life examples of preteens in

Florida who have been tried and punished as adults. The result of their statistics proves that having preteens

tried as adults and releasing them from prison only turns them into refined criminals. This article strongly

supports my topic because it includes real examples and follows the lives of some teens whose life has been

punished for being sent to prison as a young adolescent.

“Preteens Don’t Belong in Jail” is an article proposing other consequences and punishments rather than putting

preteens in jails and prisons with adults. It explains why probation camps and juvenile halls are more helpful

than prison and jails. This article includes other solutions to help preeteens and keep them away from trouble.

It allows me to include more statistics and studies from preteens in California to further explain my research

topic.

“Adult Prisons Harden Teens” by Judi Villa tells the background of story of the negative

and violent things that happen to young teens in prison. It provides real life examples of teens

who encountered so much violence in prison that it only made them a more violent individual. It

has followed through the life of teens who got out of prison and committed and even more

violent crime. This will allow me to provide real life anecdotes and quotes inside of my research.
