Media & Entertainment sector –A review

As per KPMG report, the Media & Entertainment sector grew nearly 11% in the
year 2018 and reached one lakh forty three thousand & six hundred crores. The
industry is expected to achieve two lakhs sixty six thousand crores by the year
2023, on the back of advertisement revenue, subscription revenue & sale of
Content. We all know that in media dialect Content is King. But the king last on
any media platform as long as the queen allows it, which in media parlance is the
TRP. So media measuring & media analytics are the new buzzword if you want to
sell media or buy media or even brand media.

It is pertinent to mention, nearly 44% of the M& E industry is dominated by

content creators and their numbers will grow because there is no biz like show
biz. So the moot question is who will do the remaining media management jobs
of sales, marketing support, analytical strategy, operations, PR, technology,
running of Advertising agencies , OTT & DTH platforms, TV channels , Production
houses etc. As per a conservative estimate there will be a need to employ directly
over 10 lakh people in the M& E sector in the coming years. When demand is
there can supply be far behind. And this is where the danger lies, overnight
mushrooming of Media Management Colleges.

Through this video I would like to educate all those jobseekers who are keen to
take up Media Management as their career option so as to select the right media

Visiting faculties from the industry bring with them perspective & experiences
thereby enriching the student education.
