Widening Access Centre Profi Project Summer Internship 2018-19

Description:

The Profi Project builds confidence and develops employability skills within young people who are at risk of
becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training). The project works with local schools, Bangor University
Students, local businesses and organisations. Profi is a hands-on learning programme where participants work on
real life issues relating to young people and so we wanted to use this method with our internship opportunity. We
are looking for candidates to be passionate about working with others, problem solving and be ready to work
creatively.

We require an intern within the Profi Project to give insight and improve the projects presence on the social media
platforms with engaging posts using Instagram and other social media platforms. The intern would be required to
come up with ideas on what the social media platforms should feature, attend events and functions relevant to the
Profi Project and Widening Access Centre. The intern will also be required to use archived photographs and footage
and take new photos and video footage to include in their posts. The intern will be required to research into project
sponsors and partners and promote these partnerships positively, raising awareness.

Intern Role:

Researching ideas for posting on social media; liaising with other students and members of staff to share project
experiences. Share information on the project, its sponsors, its partners and any events that involve the project or
widening access centre; taking photos and video clips for use on Instagram and other social media; conducting brief
video interviews with staff and students; writing short text snippets to accompany social media postings; ensuring
appropriate permission is sought from anyone who features in photos or videos; keeping abreast of current trends in
social media, keeping a record of basic analytics.

Facilities/working environment:

Will work from the Widening Access Centre and Profi Project office within Main Arts. Will be required to attend
different events during the internship period.
