Abstract

The investigation about the environmental impact in the oil industry is a fundamental

issue for those who are starting this career, because the “Universidad Industrial de

Santander” not only trains engineers, also people with a moral character. A Petroleum

Engineer at the time of selecting his field of work must have this very clear aspect, because

we are talking about that the Oil Industry is the most polluting in the world, not only is it

about oil as such, but also about its derivatives, here are involved several operations,

ranging from exploration, exploitation, and transportation, to reach every home in the

world, this is a deterioration that occurs gradually, where are directly affected the soil,

water, air , the fauna, the flora and the human being, therefore a petroleum engineer must

recognize the existing forms of contamination and how to mitigate them, throughout this

work each of them will be shown in detail.
