Celebrities have been playing an important role in older children’s lives for a while

but what if the youngest already start to fixate on the lifestyle of singers and
athletes?Children’s ability to imitate the actions of others is a very powerful form of
learning because it prompts parental interaction and helps children to learn about the
social environment. In today’s media-focused world, however, children rather look up
to or even become obsessed with celebrities rather than their parents. Although,
there is nothing wrong with idolising singers, movie stars or sports figures, it is
important that children do not develop an obsessive attachment to celebrities by
using them as their only role models.

For better or worse, celebrities have a powerful impact on how teens view themselves and how
they see the world. In fact, it’s easy to underestimate how much celebrities influence teenage
attitudes and behaviour. Celebrities can have a positive influence on youth. In fact, they can
serve as role models. But famous singers, actors, and other celebrities can also provide
unhealthy examples. Therefore, teenagers need guidance on how to interpret celebrities’
influence. Adults can engage with kids around media. In addition, they therefore support how
children process what they’re seeing and hearing.

Role Models. Celebrities can have a positive effect on teenagers by setting a good example of
how to live and act. For example, some are involved in humanitarian efforts such as fighting
social injustices, raising money for sick or injured people, supporting relief efforts when
extreme weather damages a community, contributing financially to hospitals or hosting free
events to support philanthropic efforts. Celebrities who show integrity in their personal and
professional lives, such as obeying the laws and honoring their relationships, are positive role
models for teenagers.

According to a study conducted at the University of Kansas, children spend more time watching TV
than any other activity. In reality television shows, celebrities are displayed in a negative manner,
often shown doing drugs, partying, fighting, and engaging in sexual activities. Children who are
exposed to this believe that is the proper way to act and try do those activities by themselves.
