Software Installation on HumaCount 5L

Instruction
The way to install the latest software version for HumaCount 5L partly depends on the currently installed
version. 3 possible situations have to be distinguished. Please see the following sections to find the
correct way to upgrade your instrument.

The installed version is lower than 1.3.1083

In this case you first need to install version 1.3.1083, followed by the installation of version 1.4.1124 and
then the most recent version of the software.

1.3.1038
Copy the two files representing version 1.3.1083 to the root of a USB pen drive. Connect the USB pen
drive to one of the USB connectors on the rear of the instrument.

From “Service” – “SW Upgrade” select “Change Low Level SW”. The system will ask to select the file of the
low level software. You need to select drive “E:” as the place where the file is. The file name is “opn.rtb”.
Press OK to start the low level software installation.

When done, select “Change High Level SW”. From drive “E:” select the file “HumaCount5L.msi” and press
OK. Follow the instruction of the installer software.

1.4.1124
Now delete the files from the root of your USB pen drive and copy the two files of version 1.4.1124 to
your USB pen drive. Connect the USB pen drive to the HumaCount 5L.

Select “Change High Level SW”. From drive “E:” select the file “HumaCount5L.msi” and press OK. Follow
the instruction of the installer software.

Now switch the instrument of, remove the USB pen drive from the rear of the instrument and connect it
directly to the LSDACQ board behind the cover on the right side of the instrument. The USB connector on
the LSDACQ board is at the lower end of the board. Switch the instrument on again.

On the HumaCount 5L select “Service” – “SW upgrade” – “Change Low Level Boot”. Select the file
“upgrade.lls” and press OK. Wait for the installation process to be completed.

Switch the instrument off and remove the USB pen drive from the LSDACQ board.

Most recent version

Now delete the files from the root of your USB pen drive and copy the two files of the latest version of
the software on your USB pen drive. Connect the USB pen drive to the HumaCount 5L.

Select “Change High Level SW”. From drive “E:” select the file “HumaCount5L.msi” and press OK. Follow
the instruction of the installer software.

From “Service” – “SW Upgrade” select “Change Low Level SW”. The system will ask to select the file of the
low level software. You need to select drive “E:” as the place where the file is. The file name is
“upgrade.lls”. Press OK to start the low level software installation.

When finished switch the instrument off and remove the USB pen drive. The process is done.
The installed version is 1.3.1083
The software update has to be performed in two steps.

1.4.1124
Copy the two files of version 1.4.1124 to your USB pen drive. Connect the USB pen drive to the
HumaCount 5L.

Select “Change High Level SW”. From drive “E:” select the file “HumaCount5L.msi” and press OK. Follow
the instruction of the installer software.

Now switch the instrument of, remove the USB pen drive from the rear of the instrument and connect it
directly to the LSDACQ board behind the cover on the right side of the instrument. The USB connector on
the LSDACQ board is at the lower end of the board. Switch the instrument on again.

On the HumaCount 5L select “Service” – “SW upgrade” – “Change Low Level Boot”. Select the file
“upgrade.lls” and press OK. Wait for the installation process to be completed.

Switch the instrument off and remove the USB pen drive from the LSDACQ board.

Most recent version

Now delete the files from the root of your USB pen drive and copy the two files of the latest version of

The installed version is 1.4.xxxx or higher

Copy the two files representing the latest version to the root of a USB pen drive. Connect the USB pen
drive to one of the USB connectors on the rear of the instrument.

From “Service” – “SW Upgrade” select “Change High Level SW”. From drive “E:” select the file
“HumaCount5L.msi” and press OK. Follow the instruction of the installer software.

When done select “Service” – “SW Upgrade” - “Change Low Level SW”. The system will ask to select the
file of the low level software. You need to select drive “E:” as the place where the file is. The file name is
“upgrade.lls”. Press OK to start the low level software installation.

When finished switch the instrument off and remove the USB pen drive. The process is done.
