Letter of Recommendation
It is with pleasure that I can offer the highest recommendation for Shubham Subhnil, a student
in the Final Year of Automobile Engineering, whom I have guided in the final year project
during the 7th and 8th semesters and am also co-authoring an SAE Technical Paper with. I have
also taken the course of Vehicle Dynamics for him in the 7th semester. During this period, he
came as a very active and responsive candidate.

Shubham came forward with the idea of the project, which in itself is commendable, given the
amount of work that needs to be performed to truly accomplish this project that too in a very
short period of time. I do not usually encourage students to take up such projects primarily
because of their incomplete knowledge on the topic or their inability to see the complete
expanse of it. This project was an exception because Shubham had a decent idea of the
technicalities involved and a plan to carry those out through his existing knowledge in Vehicle
Dynamics and Control. I particularly found him passionate about this field of automotive study.
The required skills and technical knowledge involved to complete the project can only come
from prolonged exposure to relevant technical literature. It is worth mentioning that Shubham
had taken an online course on Control Systems, which wasn’t served by the departments since
it was necessary to work on the transient simulations and testing of the car during the project.

During several of our conversations, I found out that he was particularly interested for
Mechanics and Mathematics. Knowledge in these two subjects are truly essential for an
engineering graduate and Shubham has a clear idea about combining the resources and tools
from both and develop complex but meaningful models for Vehicle Dynamics analysis. This
demonstration of critical thinking and efficiency in using the resources will definitely help him
in his further studies. On multiple occasions, I have come to understand that he is driven by
commitment and a clear sense of purpose. Unlike most other students who perform just for the
sake of it, which is often unfruitful and inefficient, Shubham always has an idea of the what’s
and why’s of any task. This enables him to efficiently put together his effort to accomplish any
difficult task, mush like this project.

Academically, he is well above average with his consistent scores of above 75% in most of the
subjects, and higher in key engineering subjects like Mathematics, Mechanics and Fluid
Dynamics. His resolution to pursue Master’s is motivated by his need to excel in the field he
is interested in.

Conclusively, I am certain for his capabilities and will to reach greater heights of his career and
hence, I enthusiastically recommend Shubham Subhnil as a truly capable candidate for the
esteemed program at your University. I will gladly help the Admission Committee during the
process, in case any concerns regarding the endorsement arise.

Sincerely,

A.J.D. NANTHAKUMAR
