ABSTRACT
Background: The level of compliance of Oral Hypoglycemic Agents (OHA) in patients
of Diabetes Mellitus (DM) is a measurement of the level of DM patients behavior against the instruction or guidance given in any form of therapy is determined either diet, exercise, medication or keep their appointment with the doctor. DM is a chronic metabolic disease group with the characteristics of Hyperglycemia or increased blood glucose levels in the body. Blood glucose levels can be used to assess the level of compliance with the DM in the treatment of patients using OHA. In addition to blood glucose levels on patient compliance rate of DM can also be measured using MoriskyMedication Adherence Scale (MMAS-8) questionnaire. The value of the MMAS- 8 shows a high level of compliance of the patient against treatment. MMAS-8 contained eight questions about the use of OHA with Yes and No answers. MMAS-8 questionnaire measuring compliance with the range of values 0 through 8. If the value is 0 to 2 respondents dutifully, whereas if the value is more than 2 then the respondent did not obey. Research purposes: Knowing the correlation between adherence Oral Hypoglycemic Agents (OHA) were evaluated from fasting plasma glucose levels and the value of MMAS-8 Research Methods: This research uses correlative analytic with cross sectional approach. The population in this research is the whole outpatient Diabetes mellitus type II in NatarMedika Hospital Lampung Province. The sample was selected using a purposive sampling technique. The research uses primary data in the form of the questionnaire instrument level compliance and examination of OHA and fasting plasama glucose using the accu-chek. The data were analyzed by Chi Square test. Research Results: The results of the statistical test of Chi-Square value obtained p value 0.000 (p<0.05) which means that there is a relationship between using OHA with compliance control fasting plasma glucose levels. Conclusion: There is a relationship between adherence OHA with control of fasting plasma glucose levels p value = 0.000 (CI = 95%).
