BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

Monggo beans are a locally cultivated plant in the Philippines. Monggo beans are easily

grown plants, and are simply available in the market. It is a major product in the municipality of

San Mateo, Isabela.

Fertilizers are used daily by farmers and families to help crops and gardens grow.

Fertilizers are of key importance to sustain modern agriculture. The application of fertilizers to

enhance soil fertility and crop productivity, has often negatively affected the complex system of

biogeochemical cycle. The use of inorganic fertilizers has caused leaching and run-off of

nutrients.

Most farmers today use fertilizers that are either mined or manufactured. Regardless of

the source of the fertilizer, all plants use the same inorganic forms of fertilizer in the soil.

Thus, in this study, the use of organic fertilizers will be focused on.

Organic fertilizers are kinder, gentler way to give plants the nutrients they need. Organic

fertilizers usually come from plants, animals, or minerals and contain a variety of nutrients to

enhance the soil ecosystem.

In addition to releasing nutrients, as organic fertilizers break down, they improve the

structure of the soil and increase its ability to hold water and nutrients. Over time, organic

fertilizers will make your soil and plants healthy and strong.
In this study, the growth of Monggo beans will be studied in accordance to the effect of

Ponkan peel as an active fertilizer

Pomelo peel is a great fertilizer even on its own, as it is an excellent source of nitrogen,

phosphorus, and potassium. Adding them to compost is a great way to make it nutritious. Pomelo

peels also protects the plants from scavengers and some pests as many of them dislike the smell.

Having that said, Pomelo peel seems ideal for growing your own garden.

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

This study focuses on the effectivity of using Pomelo peel as an active fertilizer on

monngo bean plants. This study also aims to determine the effectivity of the said fertilizer, from

which the monggo plants will be subjected upon. This study will take about two weeks from start

to completion and will be done at the researcher’s house, located around the vicinity of Cauayan.

METHODOLOGY

Materials

The materials to be used in this study are the following:

16 plastic cups (12 oz)

Loamy soil

Monngo bean seeds

Water

Pomelo peel
Pen

Paper

Procedures

I. Preparation

1. Prepare 16 plastic cups and divide them into 4.

2. Label them A, B, C, and D respectively.

3. Peel about 3 Pomelo and tear the peel into small bits.

4. Mix 20 grams of Pomelo peel to 50 grams of loamy soil and put the mixture in

a cup labeled A. Do this for all cups.

5. Repeat the process with cups in set B, but with 10 grams of Pomelo peel

instead.

6. Do the same for set C with 5 grams of Pomelo peel. Set D will receive no

peel.

II. Growth

1. Put the cups in an area where sunlight is equal and moderate.

2. Water them everyday with 50ml of water.

3. Observe and record the changes present in the different sets of Monggo

seedlings.

III. Results

1. Create a graph based on the growth of the Monggo plants (cm).

2. Analyze and interpret the results given.

Data Collection
Data will be gathered by means of observation, directed on the result of the different

container. The measurement to be used is cm.

The data gathered will then be recorded on a journal for this research and will be

presented in graphical form.

BACKGROUND AND RATIONALE

Health is seen as a result from lifestyle that is oriented towards wellness. It is not just the

absence of disease but a state of overall well-being. Overall e-cigarette awareness increased

while smokers’ perceived harm of e-cigarettes declined compared before. However, awareness

and perceived harm of e –cigarettes did not show evidence of the publicity’s awareness about

health due to smoking has declined and therefore people disregard the negative effects of

smoking.

Electronic cigarettes, also known as e-cigarettes, are defined as “battery-operated

products designed to deliver nicotine, flavor, and other chemicals.” E-cigarettes are marketed

through various are increasingly advertised as replacements for regular cigarettes or cessation

aids for smoker.

At present, one big problem that people must give proper attention is the continuously

increasing number of students who smoke as well as the increasing number of people suffering

from diseases from the inhalation of cigarette smoke. Smoking has immediate and long-term

effects that can increase the risk of harmful health conditions most specifically on our respiratory

system. Additionally, cigarette-dependence is the leading cause of death in the world.

At this juncture, this study’s objective is to determine the reasons why smoking is

common among student.

As time passes by, the population of smoker’s increases, thus it becomes interesting to

take the challenge in studying the “FACTORS THAT INFLUENCES STUDENTS TO

ENGAGE IN E-CIGARETTE SMOKING.”

SCOPE AND OBJECTIVES

This study aims to achieve a better and clearer understanding about the extent of

identified factors that influences student in smoking, and their awareness on its negative effect.

The study will be conducted inside and outside the school premises.

METHODOLOGY

Materials

In this study, the researcher will use tools designed to gather about the factors that leads

the students in smoking as perceived by them.

Questionnaire is the main gathering tool of this study. The questionnaire elicits

information on the profile of the respondents in terms of age, gender, and reasons why smoking

is common among them.

Procedure

After the finalization and approval of the science teacher, questionnaires will then be

formulated.
The questionnaire will be prepared after sufficient information is gathered through

intensive and extensive researching of literature and studies which is relevant to this study. A

draft of final questionnaire will be presented to the adviser for comments and suggestions and

later on printed for dissemination.

Data Collection

Data will be gathered by means of questionnaires, directed on finding the factors that

influences students in smoking, and their awareness on the harmful effects of smoking.

The data gathered will then be presented in a series of tables with interpretation after the

thorough analysis to answer the problems in this study.
