How I’ll Be a Politician

I’ve been considerate and kind for the past 16 years. I'll try something else for the next

16. I'll become a politician, conceited and corrupt.

As a politician I would need to win the election. To do that I will promise to make

changes that I know I won't keep. I will need to appease my voters by pretending I care about

worldly issues. I will tell them that I can reduce homeless populations; yet when I walk on the

street I’m going to tell them that I don’t have any money. I'm going to criticize the other

candidates; yet go home and do exactly what they would do. I will promise freedom and

inclusion; yet build a wall to prevent that from happening. I will try to save our country from

debt; yet purchase random things we don't need and start random wars depleting our funding

as well.

As a politician I will create more taxes for the people to pay. I know they won't be happy-

but hey- it won't be my money. Also, it's not my fault we're in a drought and you need water, if

you collect it yourself, you’ll have to pay more. Additionally, if you purchase water bottles and

plastic bags there will be an additional tax because we need to “save the environment.” There

will be tourist taxes, even if you live here. Taxes are simple, if you earn money, you will get

taxed, and if you spend it you will also get taxed. I will tax anything that I can to earn more

money for our country even though this might bring our country further into debt and deplete

our citizens from money.

As a politician I would need to ensure my reelection. I will serve my country as I

downplay the issues in order to win my constituency. In order to win my votes, I will get money

from political interest groups. I will endorse organizations, to help me get reelected. I will get

involved with large corporations, and use political lobbying in a form of campaign contributions.

In return for the campaign contribution I will write bills the will benefit my contributors. I will

use special interest to fuel my campaign so I can stay in power longer- I mean- to help the

community improve. It doesn’t matter what the outcomes will be and if it impacts our future, all

that matters is the now.

As a politician I will make bills that need a large amount of spending from the

government in order appease my constituents. I can also add a “rider” to a bill by adding in lines

that have nothing to do with the bills being created. That way, if my opposing candidates vote

against it because of the unrelated topic, I can make them look bad. I can make me look like I

am the better option because I care. It may be unfair but all that matters in the election is me.

After all it is my campaign and I want to win.

My life won’t differ from the lives you see within the press, nobody will complain. I

won’t complain either. I’ll just plot how I can make it to the top again.

After all, we are all politicians at heart, aren’t we?
