The 5 Year Plan

As a soon to be high school graduate, I can definitely say my future after high school

was/ is on my mind heavily. Through my whole 4 years I debated between military and History

or english teacher, and I came to the conclusion I want to be in military. After I graduate I would

have already gone to meps (it’s a major step you have to go through to determine if you're fit to

be a soldier not only physically but mentally) and I already know what field I want to be in when

I enter which is infantry (front line). After graduation has already took place I would be waiting

to be shipped off to boot camp then stay in military for 5 years and if I feel its my true calling as

I would hope for it to be I’d choose it as my career and retire at the age of 35, and during this

time I’d be saving for my retirement and future plans. Maybe even during the time I retire I give

back to my community and volunteer my free time and donate, and who knows maybe even

travel. There is a lot to view and discover and so little time, but as you know life always throws

curve balls and blessings that will most of the time interfere with your future plans/goals which

will more or likely make you change your whole game plan or postpone, or even maybe a detour

for the greater good.

In this case my little blessing/curveball is a little precious life, a baby. Now of course that is a

huge deal that I’m grateful everyday for but that puts a definite pause on entering military, but it

won’t stop me from reaching my dream job, I’ve been dreaming of the day I wear my uniform

with my last name on it. But military will have be delayed for a period of time until I feel I’m

mentally/physically ready for it. While i'm waiting till that time comes, after graduation I plan on

moving to Texas with my sister and start college there and enter fall semester if it’s not too late.

My goal is to remain in college for 2 years and receive my associates degree and study in

criminal justice because the law and crime really catches my attention unlike the other career

choices. I know it’ll be a little hectic being a mother and college student at the same time, but my

sister is like my best friend and she’s already offering to help me with the baby while I attend

college, and financially I have to reapply for FAFSA due to me moving out of state and a baby

on the way.

I’ll most likely already be married to my boyfriend (yes that is currently being talked about right

now as I type this here essay) and after 3 years or so pass I plan on entering military, and sign up

for the marriage contract with my soon-to-be husband, he’s already set for military all be has to

do is leave for boot camp which is on July 8th, and we can get a house paid for by the military

and day care for our little one while him and I are working. As I barely enter military I’ll already

be receiving a higher pay due to having a higher education and entering someone into the

military (which is, you guessed it, my boyfriend). I plan on being in military for 3 to 5 years, and

once my soon-to-be husband and I retire from military, if I’m not satisfied or ready to travel or

take a break I plan on returning back to college to earn my bachelors degree (if I haven’t signed

up for college during my time in the military cause that is a choice) I have a lot of goals and

plans for my future that, as you can tell, i’ve put a lot of thought into, yes I know it’ll take a LOT

of patience, time, and dedication but I know I’m more than willing to put in all that’s necessary

to reach these goals, it won’t be easy at all but i’m doing it so my child can look up and be proud

of their mom and say “If my mom did this when she had me so can I”, I see this pregnancy as a

huge motivation to keep thriving even when i’m at my worst. Also if I can graduate high school,

why not college? It’s a lot but I’m ready for life as much as life is ready for me, and as soon as I

walk that stage I know those gates are open for my future and it’s time to start my engine on

adulthood and time to say ready, set, go.
