Resumen.

Los dos siglos pasados fueron de gran importancia para la humanidad debido al
avance científico y tecnológico de dicha época, algunos de los principales avances
que han tenido gran impacto fueron los desarrollados para telecomunicaciones y el
uso de energía eléctrica; así como también, el descubrimiento de los
semiconductores.
Los hechos más relevantes en relación con nuestro ámbito profesional fueron la
batalla de las corrientes liderada por los grandes científicos e inventores Thomas
Alva Edison y Nikola Tesla, y el descubrimiento de los materiales semiconductores
por el suizo Walter H. Schottky.
Desde entonces el avance en el sector industrial ha ido en auge con la creación de
equipos cada vez mas sofisticados de mayor potencia y fuerza, así como también
la miniaturización de diferentes dispositivos de uso común como las computadoras
o celulares. El consumo de energía eléctrica en general ha ido aumentando y
presentados problemas energéticos debido al factor de potencia bajo generado por
el uso de dispositivos pasivos a base de capacitores y bobinas que generan
reactancias, produciendo así ineficiencia en el aprovechamiento de la energía
eléctrica.
El factor de potencia en la actualidad puede ser corregido mediante los avances ya
mencionados anteriormente usando de dispositivos alimentados eléctricamente y el
uso de semiconductores en circuitos integrados para el control y corrección de dicho
disturbio eléctrico abordado en las siguientes líneas de la investigación.
Abstract.
The past two centuries were of great importance for humanity due to the scientific
and technological progress of that time, some of the main advances that have had
great impact were those developed for telecommunications and the use of electrical
energy; as well as, the discovery of semiconductors.
The most relevant facts in relation to our professional field were the battle of the
currents led by the great scientists and inventors Thomas Alva Edison and Nikola
Tesla, and the discovery of semiconductor materials by the Swiss Walter H.
Schottky.
Since then the advance in the industrial sector has been booming with the creation
of increasingly sophisticated equipment of greater power and strength, as well as
the miniaturization of different commonly used devices such as computers or cell
phones. The consumption of electrical energy in general has been increasing and
presented energy problems due to the low power factor generated by the use of
passive devices based on capacitors and coils that generate reactors, thus
producing inefficiency in the use of electric power.
The power factor at present can be corrected by means of the previously mentioned
advances using electrically powered devices and the use of semiconductors in
integrated circuits for the control and correction of said electrical disturbance
addressed in the following lines of research.
