As a writer, I am constantly growing and learning how to become better. It has always been one
of my favorite subjects, and one of the subjects that I am best at. Coming into senior year, I was
already a pretty strong writer because of my time at University High. Still, there was major room
for growth, which only contributed to the skills I already had. Some of these skills include
writing complex and varied sentence structures, using extensive vocabulary, providing evidence
and warrant, maintaining a good flow, tone, and answering the prompt to its fullest extent. I
learned how to write the best possible papers during my time in UH, and even when I write
papers that seem great, there is always something I can find to improve upon. My biggest and
probably only weakness is transitions and turning in my papers on time. I write spectacular
papers with weak transitions sometimes, which throws off the whole paper. Also, I cannot seem
to turn in my stuff on time which is something I promise to improve on as I enter college. I have
learned to improve this weakness as I made it through senior year. I learned a lot my senior year
through the reflections I have written, and the great constructive criticism I received from my
wonderful English teacher. Both the reflections and feedback allowed me to see the small
mistakes I was making despite how great I believed my paper were. It allowed me to see that I
am not a perfect writer, which is ok. The essay that I am most proud of is my social issue essay.
It forced me to step out of my comfort zone and do extensive research on a paper I felt strongly
about. I learned a lot about the topic and myself throughout the writing process. I understood

both sides of the argument, declining the bias I previously had. It was when I wrote this paper
that I genuinely recognized my strengths. These strengths were great flow, tone, evidence,
warrant, and overall just a good paper. Also, I really found my style of writing this year. I
believe I turn in papers so late because it’ll bother me to the core to turn in a paper that I know
isn’t good or I’m not proud of. I feel pretty good about my entire portfolio, because I’m
confident that I put out quality content. Senior English really reignited my passion for writing
again. As much as I might’ve dreaded writing some papers this year, I enjoyed them just as
much. All of them challenged me to write a paper better than my last. Even now, I enjoy going
back to read over them. My writing accomplishments thus far will be used in the future to
continue writing exceptional papers that myself and my future professors are proud of. My
writing goals past high school are to excel past the standards I will be held to in college. I am
