1 Wireline Entry Guide
7 Polished Nipple
A Wireline Entry Guide, when used, is always
located at the lower-most position in the produc-
tion string. Its lower end has an internal bevel that
allows wireline tools that have exited the end of the 3 Flow Coupling
tubing string to be pulled back up without hanging

up.

2 Bottom No-Go Seating Nipple
The Bottom No-Go Seating Nipple is generally
located near or at the bottom of a production tubing
string, and often, just below a perforated spacer
tube (or perforated pup joint).
By the nature of its design, this nipple con-
tains the smallest restriction (its bottom no-go
diameter) in the tubing string. Since the wireline
tools used farther up the string are larger than this
nipple’s no-go diameter, it serves as a “catcher” for
tools inadvertently dropped downhole.
In conjunction with the downhole instrument
hanger, (see page 21), the Bottom No-Go Seating 5 Tubing Disconnect Sub
Nipple is very useful in landing geophysical instru-
ments for recording reservoir data. The perforated
spacer tube located above the nipple permits 3 Flow Coupling
production fluids to flow unrestrictedly around the 4 Top No-Go or Selective Seating
geophysical device while the spacer tube below Nipple
3 Flow Coupling
the nipple protects the delicate instruments from
damage.
