It is our belief at IRM Evangelical Church - Mandaluyong that the Praise &
Worship team is a vital part to the ministry of this body of believers.
Members of this team should view their function as ministers of the gospel
through music and song. Those who serve on the Praise & Worship Team,
therefore, should view their role as a calling from God.
Membership on the Praise & Worship Team (in any way) is a position of Christian
leadership.
The vision for the Music Head and Resident Pastor is to maintain
a musical ministry of excellence.
1. Calling
It is very important for those who participate in the Praise and Worship
Team to know and feel that they are “called and anointed” to the ministry of
worship. (As one of the ministers of God says, “we will know if we are called
when we respond, obey and commit to what God has called us to do”)
We believe in the operation of the Gifts of the Holy Spirit in the order of
Service at IRM Evangelical Church - Mandaluyong.
2. Lifestyle
2.1 Character
We desire to pursue Christlikeness through:
2.1.1 Prayer – Every week each member should pray for
their church, their worship ministry family, their leaders,
and the worship services so that when service time comes
they are spiritually prepared to move with the presence of
God.
2.1.2 Devotion/Bible Study – Scriptural Study is
essential to the development of our character. The more
we understand worship according to the Word of God, the
more we can worship Him in the appropriate manner.
2.3 Giving. Every member must be faithful in their tithes and offerings
to God and trusting Him with their finances
3. Talents and Skills
Although we recognize the importance of a pure heart, the musician and
vocalists also need to have enough skill so that they can follow the leading of
the Holy Spirit.
One does not need to be a professional musician to worship the Lord, but
God honors the discipline of good practice and preparation. “Failing to
prepare is preparing for failure.”
3.1.1 Singers and Musicians will practice their parts for songs. this
involves memorizing both instrumental and lyrical parts.
5.4 Singers, musicians, A/V, and sound techs will be in place and ready to
go before the starting times of both rehearsals and church services.
6. Attire
As leaders, members must dress properly.
7.2 Praise and Worship Team training pool is open for prospective member/s
but with music head’s approval. The music head and the head/resident pastor
approve who goes to the training pool.
7.3 The prospective member must be at least 15 years old, at least 1 year
member of IRM Evangelical Church – Mandaluyong (except for special cases) ,
and a cell group member before taking the platform.
7.4 The music head and the head/resident pastor shall decide and approve
whether he/she is finally an official member of the Praise and Worship Team
and is ready to take the platform.
7.5 Official member of the Praise and Worship Team shall finally sign the
PRAISE & WORSHIP TEAM COVENANT.
8. Schedule Conflicts, Etc.
Those who commit to serving on the Praise and Worship Team are asked to
commit to weekly rehearsals and they are expected to do their best to other
commitments do not interfere with their ability to serve on the Worship Team on
a weekly basis.
8.1 If at any time, a member (including visual equipment operators, sound
technicians, musicians, worship leader, backup singers, etc.) cannot attend a
service, rehearsal, etc. they must find their own replacement and notify the
music head in advance so that proper adjustments can be made. Each member
is only allowed to do this three (3) times a year, if and only if the reason is
valid. If a member has availed the said number of provisions and he/she needs
to make another absence again, a replacement will no longer be allowed;
instead his ministry will be left vacant for the said schedule.
9. Discipline:
The team will consider any unavoidable tardiness during practice or worship
service but will address any habitual or deliberate one.
Any team member who shows deliberate negligence of his/her responsibilities and
does not comply to this guidelines will immediately be dealt with.
9.2 Second offense. applies when an erring member refused to submit to the
disciplinary action of the first offense he/she is then subject to
suspension from his/her ministry and will not be allowed to minister with
the team on Sunday services. Refrain is the action to be taken after
reprimanding, if the same pattern of errors or mistakes is seen with no
sign of desire to be changed.
9.3 Relieve is the course of action to be taken when for the third time the
same offense has been made. This means a period of suspension
depending on the gravity of the mistakes or sin committed which could be
one month, three months, one year or even indefinitely. To be suspended
means, he will function in the usual area of his ministry but he/she is
required to continue to attend the rehearsal and worship services as an
active but under disciplined member of the team and again as a trainee.
The lifting of the suspension depends on his/her response to the
corrections. The fruit of genuine repentance are expected to be then
evident namely, change of heart, change of view, change of purpose and
change of lifestyle.
9.4 Restore is the act of taking the suspended person back to ministry after
finally learning his/her lesson from the past mistake. His restoration does
not mean assuming immediately the same position which he/she used to
occupy before he was suspended. He must start from a lower position
depending on the present condition of his heart and acceptance of the
leadership and the whole worship team.
9.5 Remove is the final course of action for irreparable attitudes that continue
in spite of the correction being imposed on him. This means removal from
the ministry alone but not from the local church.
Any discipline will be done at the consent of the resident pastor and carried
out by the music head. It will be done in love and in hopes of reconciling
the individual and bringing them back fully restored.
* The only way to deal with hurt feelings, resentment, confusion, etc.
is to bring it out into the open so that the Lord can help us work
through it as a team.
Note:
* It is important to state that we intend for the information in this manual
to serve as a guideline, but we realize that exceptions will occur.
* It is also important to state that these guidelines apply to the members of the
Praise and Worship Ministry on a regular basis, not those who participate in
special programs, special music, etc.
