All right! Good afternoon to all of you.

I am Edgar Villanueva, 48 years old, I work under the City Service

Corporation as a lead or project personnel for almost 4 years here in AMV.

Maari po ba naming tanungin kung paano po ang proseso ng waste management dito sa loob ng
AMV?

We do the right process of waste management here in AMV. For example, we have trash bins in the
hallway which will be picked up at 10 in the morning. Although, the trash bins are mixed of
biodegradable and non-biodegradable, we see to it that at the end of the day we segregate each of it.
After that, we throw away the wastes in the dumpsite at 6 in the evening. But, picking up of trash is
twice in the morning and also twice in the afternoon. So more or less, the wastes here in AMV has an
average of 17 bags a day, including the pet bottles. And after that, we will transfer it to the dumpsite
wherein the trucks or “basureros” will collect and pick up the trash here in our university.

Maybe, what we can ask for help to lessen the heavy work of my workmates for proper segregation is
the trash that the students carry in the classroom, should be put outside and in the right trash bin.
Sometimes we encounter that there are a lot of trash left in the classroom. So that’s one reason why
(our work is taking slowly???) NAGPAPABAGAL NG AMING TRABAHO. For the properness and
maintainance of the cleanliness of the classroom. So, we ask for your support so that we can preserve
the cleanliness, and the befitting environment and each one of us in the project personnel can feel that
you appreciate and value our work by putting your trash in the right place.

Kung kayo po tatanugnin po, ngayon alam na natin yung advantage at disadvantage, ma
irerekomenda niyo po ba na gagamit tayo ng tatlong basurahan?

I recommend the usage of the 3 trash bins so that we can observe if it will be properly used. Because,
we can follow it right since we are the ones who segregate the trash. But, in the actual happenings, they
cannot follow the right usage of it.

Ano po yung process ng waste management?

As to what have been said earlier, we collect and segregate the trash every morning.

Ano po yung gusto niyong iparating na mensahe para sa mga komunidad ng AMV?

For me, the students of AMV should maintain the cleanliness of the classrooms.

Waste management is basically the proper handling of waste from the moment of its inception up to the
point of its final disposal. That includes the collection part, the transportation part even the recycling
part. It's all part of the process of proper handling of waste.

Last 2001 there was a law implemented and it's Ecological Solid Waste Management Act. Wherein they
intend that wastes should end up in a sanitary landfill instead of open dumpsites. So, that is the main
goal of the law. And aside from that this law is anchored to the R's, reduce, reuse, and recycle.

Usually the main issue about solid waste management is that the LGUs can't fully implement the law.
Mainly for the reason of the implementation cost, and the implementation hassle to the environment.
Of course, it is not easy to put to action waste management it will require a lot of time and it's very
tedious. Sometimes because of those reasons they hinder the implementation of the law. Another
reason is that most people and their social perception have their own dumpsite in their city or in their
area. For them it is negative and it is not okay. That is also a hindrance because in solid waste
management the intention hopefully, your waste is in your own backyard. But it cannot happen here
because that is what people are thinking that no, we can't have that in our own city. I think that's one of
the societal issues about waste management.

Actually there are different types of waste. They can be classified as solid, liquid, or gas. But the most
common is solid. They can also be classified depending on our source. It can be industrial, biological, or
even residential. Depending on the type of waste, There are different methods on how to manage. Of
course the common method for waste management is dumping. The dumping at sanitary landfill or even
in... it's even considered as one of the means in managing waste. Aside from that we can also consider
recycling or reusing some waste, and we can also adapt composting if ever applicable in our area. So
those are some of the common methods.

If we do not practice waste management that will greatly affect public health. Main concent why the law
is implemented is to reduce the adverse effects of waste to public health. So if we would let the waste
present in our environment that can mainly pollute our waters, our lands, or can even cause climate
change.

Actually waste management is the very first step that we can do to reduce waste in one city. The first
thing we could do is we could go away from plastics, we can use alternatives instead. That is so common
nowadays, instead of using single use plastics we could use yung mga metallic straws, and metallic
utensils. That is one of the most common thing that we can do in our household. Another things is let's
try to be paperless. Instead of using paper towels, we could use rags or old clothes in cleaning. And then
of course the recycling or reusing some waste like bottles or even newspapers that we think can still be
reused. If we can do composting, it's a very good thing to do if you can do it in your own houses that's
one thing to consider.
