Lyme Disease
Prevalence
CDC Reported Cases
Cases for 2017

U.S. 59,439
PA 11,900 (20%)
NY 5155
NJ 5092

In recent years, PA had as many as 40% of all cases in the U.S.

The Actual Numbers are
MUCH Higher
• The CDC’s own research shows 10
times more cases than reported
•3.4 million tests for Lyme disease are
ordered each year
• Quest had about 35,000 positive test
results in 2017
•Other estimates say 1 million new
cases each year

Immunity

No immunity is developed

You can get Lyme disease over and over

from new tick bites
Vaccine

•There was a Lyme vaccine available

from 1999-2002
•It caused harm in about a third of

patients who got the vaccine

•The protect was short-lived

•There was no protection from other tick-

borne diseases
Pretty bad news,

don’t you think?

Controversy
Two Standards of Care

Two Standards of Care
IDSA: Infectious Diseases Society of America
Lyme disease is hard to catch, easy to cure, and vastly
overdiagnosed. If you still have symptoms after a couple of
weeks of antibiotics, it’s not Lyme disease.
