EXECUTIVE SUMMARY
In this report we put light on the Unethical issues and practices which are maybe prohibited by
law or straight away unethical of FAST FOOD INDUSTRY, The flaws in advertising campaign to bad
marketing of fast food items and portraying them as natural and healthy which is bad for health.
The Quality of products that has been used in their items and the employees behavior with
customers. Parental view on Fast food consumption and how do they react on this Fast Food
addiction. Advertising a powerful gender role that may offensive to other genders. These all
unethical practices are explained thoroughly in this report.

INTRODUCTION
Food is an absolute necessity require thing in our regular daily existence, however a large portion
of the general population don't think a lot about the Food that we eat and the foundation of the
Fast Food business. In this urban way of life, Fast Food is getting prominent in contemporary
occasions due to the occupied and chaotic existence of the city and individuals these days will in
general eat a greater amount of outside Food contrasted with home cooked Food. It appears as
everybody is having junk food other than any eatery. Cheap food is a standout amongst the most
favored nourishments by individuals these days as it is arranged quick and tasty with sensible
costs.

Fast Foods takes up almost 55-60 % of the Pakistani Youth. Regardless of whether this is on the
grounds that Fast Foods are Quick and helpful and innovation. What and how Pakistani eat has
changed definitely throughout the most recent 20 to 30 years. This is because maybe Pakistanis
are way leaning to modern American culture and spoiling themselves with this strategy.

Maybe this is because how companies are advertising us that fast food is the necessity of life and
they are directly targeting youngsters for it as our parents or big ones are difficult to understand
the value of Fast food plus it is more like fashion than necessity. Ethics in advertising manages

the standards and qualities that the promoting marketing agencies should have. The topic of
ethics turns out to be very essential when the market focuses on the most sensitive area of the
general public youngsters. The Fast Food Chains are currently spending an incredible sum on
notice to draw attention of public to this Fast Food thing. Fast food publicizing has turned into a
noteworthy worry in food item promoting. Food is a basic ware for everybody. Be that as it may,
presently days a Packaged and Fast food has progressively turned into a high contribution item.
Clients like to check and ensure for purchase the item that has the correct sort of ingredients,
nutritional value and the expiry date.

Other than Packaging or presentation of Fast Food items, the quality of the item likewise should
be important. Good diet during childhood is important for physical and mental growth.
Youngsters eat out more often (garbage/fast food, ) which influence their wellbeing to such an
extent. In the ongoing years, food marketing has picked up significance in the brains of the
shopper. Food marketing is characterized as the chain of exercises that conveys food from farm
gate to plate. It comprises of various activities that settles on a customer twist his choice to
purchase a specific food item in its favors.

Moreover, The training of employees working at fast food chains and not supervising them
properly is also a big issue because how to deal with the customer and how to draw customers
by showing them your ambiance and customer service also affects consumer minds. Nowadays
Customer service and employees behavior towards employees had changed a lot. There’s been
reports of unethical behavior of employees , waiters to customers and not guiding them properly.
This is also a stressed topic as we are studying business ethics it affects fast food chains highly.

Usage of old poisoned ingredients in Fast food chains is also a big stressed out issue which is
obviously unethical because advertising it as very fresh and natural food for everybody it is an
unethical practice. Using old dead chicken for chicken wings and zinger burger as KFC ( Pakistan
) was in one of those controversies for using bad chicken which was not at all good for health.

Advertising of a Product and not providing them with same standards and quantity which
obviously when advertised feels appealing. MC DONALDS marketing strategy is same like this
they have been this for years.

OBJECTIVE OF STUDY

To point out the unethical practices of Fast Food industry


To point out the effects of Fast Food on health of youngsters
The Parental view point towards the Unethical practices carried on by the food advertisers
To discover Parents inclinations of Fast food things for their youngsters
To point out the Quality of food being used in Pakistani Fast food chains
To point out the unethical behavior of employees to customers

For making of this report we used primary as well as secondary data for analysis. The primary
Data was gathered from well structured interview and group discussions while secondary data
was gathered from various websites and few research papers and written in our own words.

The food marketers have been using untrustworthy methodologies to elevate their items to the
clients, especially youngsters. Food wellbeing concerns gain significance in light of ongoing ascent
in stoutness levels particularly among youngsters. Youngster stoutness is a developing issue in
the present society.

The promoting of ''low quality nourishment'' is done so that it makes them alluring to youthful
youngsters in spite of the fact that it gives low supplement content. The low quality nourishments
fundamentally incorporate vitality - thick fast food like the baked goods and burgers containing

ADVERTISING BY POWERING SPECIFIC GENDER


This means that portraying men or women in specific roles which maybe powering and creates
negative image on other gender like promoting feminism in bad sense that men are not worthy
at all for them all they need is just a bite of burger and their life will be on spree. This is an ethical
issue too.

PARENTAL VIEW ON FAST FOOD CONSUMPTION


The World is changing as well Pakistani culture is also evolving to modernism and in this
modernism there’s a culture of Fast Food too which youngsters are all for. Now as many diseases
just because of Fast Food has been driven into the systems of youngsters like heart problems and
hyper tensions etc. Parents of Pakistani youngsters are of different era which is now totally
evolved. They don’t understand the necessity of eating fast food having pizza or diet coke, and
they are not well aware of these marketing techniques too which are advertised as natural and
healthy. They are worried about he health of their children and they cannot just cut them off
from this Fast food thing and this situation is stressing as whole.

VARIOUS UNETHICAL ISSUES IN FAST FOOD INDUSTRY


Not providing them with what’s advertised
Not well aware of what ingredients have been used
Targeting directly to children and youngsters which are emotional and cannot process
information correctly
Using students as part time workers and not giving them proper salaries and they have to
work load of time

INDUSTRY
“KFC has been caught selling expires chicken that has been stored in boxes more than 15
days which is 6 days later than the date that are dictated by the KFC policy and the fired
manager of KFC are forced to sell chicken that has turned bad. This has violated the Ethics
of restaurant and also the standard rules of Environmental Health Service Department “
“MC DONALDS is known for giving part time jobs to students and not giving them proper
wages while they have to work really hard and loads of time. This is against human rights
and this is unethical too.”
“SUBWAY a leading Fast food Chain, In Pakistan customers has reported various unethical
behavior reports of employees to customers. Not providing them with good guidance and
behaving rudely which impacted a bad image of this fast food chain. People don’t know
which sauce which bread which thing is good for their sandwich so that they take time to
order and the staff behave rudely. “
