Abstract

Most of the conventional vehicles are unnecessarily bulky for short distance travel and they cause
environmental pollution. Hence the objective of this project is to design and fabricate Eco - friendly,
portable and modular vehicle which can be used to commute short distances for last mile connectivity.
The major drawbacks in electric scooters available in the market are that they are either bulky, non
modular or expensive. To tackle these problems, a simple, economic and minimalistic electric scooter has to
be developed. With this approach, practical problems like pollution, range, affordability, portability, theft,
safety and maneuverability can be subdued.
The approach is to build a compact and light weight vehicle frame so that it is portable. The frame is
designed for strength, stiffness and ergonomics. The strength is sufficient to withstand a person under
dynamic conditions. To ensure the stability of vehicle under various terrains, the dynamics are simulated and
incorporated. The frame and dynamics of the vehicle are designed with safety as utmost priority.
The final intent of the project is to learn product design, project management and other associated
engineering principles involved.
