O Curso de Inglês Básico fundamenta-se na metodologia comunicativa por
priorizar a comunicação em que a unidade básica da língua, e que requer atenção,
é o ato comunicativo. Ou seja, a função se sobrepõe à forma, e o significado e
situações inspiram a didática de vídeos, áudios e a confecção de materiais escritos.

Dessa forma, a abordagem comunicativa representa uma evolução inteligente


em direção a um ensino-aprendizagem de línguas mais humano e centrado nos
interesses do aprendiz. É a abordagem que inspira os métodos hoje mais eficazes.

Desse modo, serão desenvolvidas as 5 habilidades da língua: leitura,


fala, audição, escrita e interpretação da língua inglesa, abrangendo contextos e
estruturação do vocabulário para prática de atividades que envolvam comunicação
real. Isso envolve o domínio não só de competência gramatical ou linguística, mas
também de habilidades sociolinguísticas, discursivas e estratégicas, tendo, assim,
o foco na utilização de ferramentas fonéticas e metodologia comunicativa para
formação das habilidades citadas.

Objectives

INTRODUCTION

In this unit we will learn a daily theme in people’s lives: clothes, accessories, colors
and sizes. We will also learn how to use Object and Demonstrative pronouns.

LANGUAGE AND CULTURE NOTE:

• Shirt refers to both men’s and woman’s clothes

• Blouse is used for woman’s clothes only

• Pants are used in American English for both men’s and women’s clothes. Pants
is grammatically plural even though the word refers to one item, a pair of paints.
In British English, this article of clothing is called trousers

GRAMMAR: DEMONSTRATIVE PRONOUNS – THIS, THAT, THESE, THOSE

Let’s learn about Demonstrative Pronouns. They are used to describe or identify
objects that are near or far from the person who is speaking. In English, it is very
simple because there are only two forms for the singular and two forms for the plural.

We use THIS to specify an object or person
that is near us. It is used in the singular.

THIS IS MY JACKET

We use THAT to specify an object or person


that is far from us. It is used in the singular.

THAT IS MY JACKET

We use THESE to define objects or people,


in the plural, which are near us. They are
close to us. THESE is used in the plural

THESE ARE MY JACKETS

THOSE is used when talking about objects


that are far from the person who is talking
and it’s used in the plural.

THOSE ARE MY JACKETS.

GRAMMAR: THE USE OF OBJECT PRONOUNS

We use Object Pronouns to substitute a noun. There are seven Objects Pronouns
In the English language. Objects represent people or things that are affected by the
action of the verb.

The subject of a sentence performs the action of the verb. A direct object receives
the action of the verb.

Indirect Objects: usage, rules and common errors

When a sentence contains a direct object and a prepositional phrase, you can use
an indirect object to say the same thing.

Prepositional phrase Indirect object


I’m buying the cardigans for her I’m buying HER the cardigans
Aline gave the books to them Aline gave THEM the books

BE CAREFUL: When a sentence contains both a direct object and an indirect object,
the indirect object always comes first. The direct object cannot be a pronoun. For
example:

Aline wrote HER NOT: Aline wrote A NOT: Aline wrote her

How can I tell the size of the clothes in English? Read and Listen. Then listen again
and repeat.

S – SMALL In English, you can use an indefinite article


before a size, but it is not necessary, for
M – MEDIUM
example: My dress is a medium / My dress
L – LARGE is medium. Both are correct.

XL – EXTRA LARGE
