Ellen Richards

● One of America's first female professional chemists 
and the first woman to be accepted by a scientific school  
● Ellen Richards is best know as pioneering the field of sanitary 
engineering 
Fun facts: ​She established a women’s laboratory at MIT. 
Ellen was one of the first scientists to advance the study 
and application of nutrition and healthy eating. 
She conducted research into the arsenic content in wallpaper 
and fabrics, laying the groundwork for safety standards for these 
commonly used products.
