The Problem and Its Setting

Introduction
In this generation, technology has influenced and changed our way of living. the

advances in technology and computers of today’s society has made us accomplish daily

tasks and people are also able to do work more efficiently. The researchers learn new

knowledge, new techniques, develop new substances, and enhance our skills as

peoplebecame more exposed to technologies and digital devices.

Technology provides everything in a very accessible and easiest way possible. In

school, gadgets make the learning environment interesting and engaging. When it comes

to study this device is a big help in such ways that you can just browse and in one click,

you’ll get the information that you wanted. Gadgets are not only for doing things easier

but also, gadgets can make the community connected and updated.

However, in constant use of gadgets, the obsession occurs when the person is being

addicted. Those who are overly exposed to technology is most likely to become addicted.

Literally, gadgets are very phenomenal, especially to students. Technology has a lot to

offer, from the information, social Medias, and video games. It is one of the influential

things to teenagers because it can boost their social medias as well as their confidence.

Although, gadgets are very useful it can also bring disadvantages. The constant use

of these devices may lead to disinterest in class that often results to receiving low grades.

It can’t deny that gadgets makes our lives enjoyable and comforting. This form of

technology satisfies whoever owns one and tends to spend their time just playing video

games or browsing in the internet, not minding if their grades slipped. Addictive gadgets

can affect the activeness, ability to interact with others, and to our mental health. People

tend overuse gadgets to the point that it results to eyes fatigue or other illnesses. Gadgets

can be harmful for us if not in moderation.

Review of Related Literature

Related literature

According to Battons (2009)technology has assisted a big upgrade in the branch of

education. Teachers and students has felt the positive effects of gadget use in education.

Students get more engaged in educational activities through being enticed by using fancy

gadgets like laptops, tablet, and computers. The internet made the biggest impact of

technology in the technology system. By this form of technology, students and teachers

can connect and share from anywhere in the world, and by getting information, internet

is more accessible and quicker.

In addition, Idos and Pataksil, (2017), determined the usage of gadgets among grade

11 stem students of Ordaneta City national high school during the school year 2017-2018,

and resolve relationship between the usage of gadgets and its impact. In the

interpretation data analysis, cellphones are always used by students while computers are

barely used and tablets are seldomly used by students in learning. This study determined

the positive impact of gadget usage if it’s in moderation but it also has a negative impact

on students.

Locale

Mosqueda Jr., (2016), determined the children that exposed to gadgets for more than

two hours a day have higher risk of becoming overweight, or any serious illnesses like

diabetes and heart diseases. 3% of the children of Central Visayas are overweight and

obese on NNC data as of 2016. The increase percentage of these illnesses is due to the

popularity of gadgets. Meanwhile, 40% of children in Central Visayas, or 4 out of 10,

have problems with their weight. Parents and caregivers have the greatest responsibility

to discipline children and control their exposure of gadgets.

In 2009, Mr. Gross presented the constant in use of media and present technologies

in communication at work or at home. The rapid growth of new technologies has made

the people dependent and they feel hard to survive without this devices. It’s reliable and

efficient when it comes to information, education, entertainment, and social interaction.

However, this form of digital tools have severe effects on human beings most especially

on children who have instant learning capacity.

Buckingham, (2006), noted that modern technologies include impacts of mobile

phones and the negative impact of technologies on children’s behaviour namely:

violence and aggressiveness. Many different researches and articles determined the

relationship between usage of technology and the impact of it. Negative effects

incidental learning habits in children supports by general perception that the idea of

usability of technology such as video games.

Locale

In local study of Capulong, (2018), she expressed the great impact of modern

gadgets on the learners’ performance. Students used to rely on books and visits library

facilities to study, until the exceeding growth of gadgets. Now that the gadgets are

available to all students, learners achieved low academic grades. Technology has always

been advancing throughout the years and it made a big impact on people’s lifestyle. It’s

undeniable fact that gadgets made life better but it also bring negative effects and

influence upon students’ performance in many ways. As they go home they would play

with their gadgets instead of studying and it affects the learning experiences of students.

The students may become obsessive and addictive on gadgets and neglect everything

such as social life, their family and friends. It must have limitations in everything they do.
