WORKING EXPERIENCE

● About my role: Worked as a T ​ rainee Engineer at ​V T Switchgears and Transformers,

Bangalore from December 2015 to November 2016. Handled testing of Transformers before its
dispatch into the consumers.

● Range of transformers manufactured: 25KVA, 63KVA, 100KVA and 200KVA.

● Testing of transformers include OC test, SC test, HV test and DVDF test.

● OC test: In this test rated voltage is applied to the primary while the secondary is open circuited. The
applied primary voltage is measured by the voltmeter, no load current and no load input power by
wattmeter. Ex: for 25 KVA transformer rated voltage of 230kv for single phase or 415kv for three
phase is applied and the corresponding no load values are measured.

● SC test: Here secondary winding is short circuited and rated current is applied the primary. Full load
copper losses are measured.

● HV test: Electrical equipment must be capable of withstanding over voltages during operation. Thus
by suitable testing procedure we must ensure that this is done.

● DVDF test: Double voltage double frequency test is popular test conducted on the transformer
before it is commissioned. In this test double the rated voltage and double the rated frequency is
applied to the transformer under test and observed for it’s withstand capability usually for one
minute.
