When did Tamil Indian come to Myanmar?

1.Burma is Myanmar.

2.The outward migration on an organized scale came during British Rule.

5.For the Nattukottai Chettiars of Tamil Nadu, the chief investment destination was
South East Asia. From around 1830, confined Chettiars in Madras presidency, started
exporting their capital to Ceylon(Sri Lanka), Burma (Myanmar), Straits settlement
(Singapore, Malacca and Penang) and Indo-China.

6.As per the Indian Estimate, the working funds of Chettiars were deployed 64% in
Burma, 20% in Malaya, 11% in Ceylon, 4% in Indo China. Less than 1% is deployed in
Madras.

7.Between 1852 -1932, the area under paddy in lower Burma, rose from 6 lakh acres to
97 lakh acres. By 1936, 1650 Chettiar firms controlling 24 lakh acres or a quarter of farm
land in Burma’s 13 districs.

8.Japanese invasion of Burma during World war 2, hit the community. They have
foregon much of they own.
