The College of The Canyons library is one of the more relaxing and easy to focus environments
on the campus. “in a sense, architectures and designers are the authors of buildings and public
spaces; they construct these texts through a series of decisions” (Silverman and Rader 139). this
idea feels more prevalent with the structures that are on the college campus. Every structure feels
like it serves a purpose and caters towards a target audience of college students. To be more
specific the best place I believe to have more thought behind the architecture is the college
campus Library. Other buildings around the campus have different types of environments to
make them feel like a unique part of the campus, but the one that is observed the most would be
the library because the library is where most students go to get work done to have a quite
comfortable environment to work.

When you walk inside the Library you see colors that are all white but the colors to represent a
feeling of comfort because behind those white colors students have put up artistic pictures of Pop
Culture references or books that they are trying to promote that they really like. this adds to the
feeling of culture inside the Library that college students themselves try to promote inside the
Library. this also does give a feeling of kind of a home, or an environment that feels like it's not
just a boring institution to work in. this so answers the emotion Factory when analyzing the
environment around you as you study or do any kind of activity inside the Library.

On a normal school day when you walk inside the library, you immediately get the sense of an
environment that is a quiet comfortable place to work. this has to do with the space, design,
shapes, colors, size, beauty, and emotional response, inside the library. The design of the library
makes it feel spacious enough to feel comfortable about having so much room to put your work
and thoughts and lay them out in front of you. On the second floor, there is an area to work as
you also have a view of Valencia to your side. The view that a person has of the city while
working on school work can make them feel as if what they are doing at that moment feels good
and more motivated to keep coming back day after day. the shapes and colors of the interior of
the building add more to the immersion of a very professional and creative setting to work or
read comfortably on top of the already spacious environment.

When walking in the library at the College of the Canyons, it makes a person feel emotions even
if they don't notice it. In the book “the world is a text” it states, “What is important to know is
that your emotional reaction to certain spaces is intended… Did you enter the library of an old
or prestigious University, you probably experienced a hushed sense of tradition that was
designed to be elicited in you when it was still in blueprints” (Silverman and Rader 139). When
using this idea to analyze the library on our campus, the library gives a positive emotional
reaction to a person that could be many different things, it can be a relief because they feel as if
they will finally get work done, or a feeling of relaxation where they can come in sit down open
a book and let your mind wander for a little while you tell time passes.

The Campus Library is a calm cool environment that caters towards a college student by giving
them the environment to have so much space, beauty, and comfort, thus intern also making
students feel as if they can get more work done, and come back when they need to do more.
There are many different buildings around the campus that have environments inside that cater
towards different types of students looking for a different type of work environments but what
separates the library from all of them was the emotion that a person gets when walking into the
library. this is why I feel the library's effectiveness in its architecture is one of the best if not the
best on the campus.

Hey Brayan, I thought your post was really cool and I really like how you did on Starbucks, I
agree with your opinion on the fact that Starbucks should be more mindful of disabled bodies.
But I feel like you maybe could have elaborated more on the environment that Starbucks gives
off to all customers rather than just any coffee shops in general but other than that solid post!

hi Alexa, I thought your post is really cool about schoonerville and what it's doing for the
disabled community. you seem very passionate about the topic and I thought your analysis
breakdown was detailed and the reasons you gave for your so what we're very compelling, good
job.
