To whom it may concern

I have had the pleasure of serving as Brianna’s World History II teacher her Sophomore year and her VA
Teachers for Tomorrow teacher her Junior and Senior years. Brianna was a stand out student in history at a young
age. She has always been engaged in her learning, asking thought provoking questions regularly and going beyond
any assignments’ requirements. In additional to all her academic strengths, I came to know Brianna’s amazing
character and personal attributes when she enrolled in VA Teachers for Tomorrow.

This program helps immerse students into the fundamentals of teaching and a short internship Junior year.
Brianna committed herself to every requirement, suggestion or passing idea I had for her. I knew when she left my
traditional classroom to serve her 3 ½ month internship at a local disadvantaged elementary school that I was
sending one of my best. Her Senior year she will complete a 7 month internship at another elementary school and
serve as a co-teacher for the class. Her children this year will learn their curriculum, but most importantly they will
learn patience, trust, commitment, follow through, a love of learning and when all things seem to fail to keep a
positive mindset. For so many reasons I know she will be the type of teacher students will come to love, depend
on and remember their whole lives.

Brianna will not just be another student in your education program. She will be an encourager to her classmates, a
stand out student to your professors, a spirited spectator at your events and eventually an alumni who will make
you immensely proud. My only disappointment in Brianna’s graduation is that I will not teach her one more year.
She has become a pseudo daughter these past 3 years and I am truly proud to watch what she does with the rest of
her life.

Sincerely,

Julia McMasters
