 Aniyah Ashantie, by Aniyah Jones

Introduction
Aren’t you tired of being Self Conscious? I know I am. Come be apart of #AniyahAshantie. It’ll get your
confidence up and have you looking good while doing it. Be your best confident, beautiful self. Aniyah
Ashantie is a two part organization. One part of this organization is a youth program (LittleGoGetterz) for
young women ages 8-18 that suffer from low self-esteem or a lack of confidence. LittleGoGetterz has
multiple steps to help build your confidence. The other part of my program is designing and selling
clothes; This has been my dream for a really long time. I love the idea of creating and designing my own
style of clothes. Together, my program is fashion-based with a mission to help young women find their
confidence and build their experience in fashion.

Opportunity Statement
The problem I want to fix is something that is common throughout the women’s community; and young women to
be specific. Young women’s self-esteem and confidence gets progressively lower as they age. By the time they’re
fourteen years of age their confidence drops 30%. Generally 75% of young women have low self-esteem. This
could result in bullying, underage smoking or drinking, eating disorders, and depression. Being a young women is
hard as it is, and society does nothing but make it worst. The majority of women who have a social media
platform are seen as role models for teenage girls. Most of these women are very attractive to the social media
world because of their appearance and wealth. “Celebrities, fashion models and show hosts are often seen as
role models, especially by teenagers. They appear to demonstrate what it is t o be successful and popular. Their
body weight, appearance and beauty are often associated with their popularity and wealth”. This only proves my
point, young women are not confident in themselves because of how society defines beauty. 81% of young
women go on a diet by the age of seventeen. They want to look better in the eye of society. That’s not all though.
81% of ten year old girls are afraid of being fat. Having a little extra weight isn’t considered beautiful. Especially
not on women. (https://www.mirror-mirror.org).
As someone who was a little overweight when she was 10 years old, I understand younger girls who
would like to lose weight. That was me, and it took me years to build my confidence and self-esteem. This is why I
want to help young women who need a little extra push to love herself. Not being able to love yourself is a huge
problem for young women. This problem doesn't go unseen; multiple women try to fix this problem through
programs for young women. Their programs, however, are not quite like mine. I see this problem as an
opportunity to start a non-profit business. My business will be fashion-based. This business will help build young
women's confidence and self-esteem by teaching them that no matter what their size, skin color, height they are,
they can make whatever they wear look good. My business is called Aniyah Ashantie (Ashan-tay). Each side of
my name has a different meaning. Aniyah represents all women’s fashion. Ashantie represents a program for
young women. Together I will present a Fashion Line with the mission of helping young women like myself
become more confident in themselves white building their skills in fashion.
This program is for young women from the ages of 12-18. I know this age group is fairly broad, but I chose
this range because research shows that by the age 12, young girls are very self-conscious and more aware of
what others think of them, making them more likely to have a low self-esteem. In this program, I will bring
awareness to young girls about the community. This is important because as a young women in society today it is
important to know what's going on around you. I will also get the girls to help out around the community, doing
things like volunteering at a soup kitchen, raising money for groups such as Red Cross, sending cards to soldiers
overseas, and volunteering at senior citizens home, and back to school care packages, etc. This is important
because learning how to treat people is a very important trait. I'll also provide help with school work and making
sure the girls are up to date with their work. We’ll do conversations and workshops about helping their
self-esteem. Our conversations will have topics like Saying No to your self critic, Think about what's breaking your
self-esteem, a nd Whats negative self talk and how to avoid it. I will not be the only mentor there to help. I will get
other females with a mission to help young teens like themselves. They will help me lead these young ladies in a
great direction. Most importantly this group of young women will have their own section in my clothing line. They
will learn to sew and take on multiple independent projects on making their own unique clothing line. They will
have photoshoots wearing the clothing they designed along with mine. These girls will be the face of Aniyah
Ashanti's Y outh collection. I hope that by including them in my fashion side, they will be empowered to find
clothes that make them feel good about themselves.
My business is feasible for two reasons. I am a young woman who is directly connected to the other
young women I’d like to help. I already know a few young women I can recruit into this program who need some
support. And two, because I can make clothes in the comfort of my own home. I can sew, I know how to measure
clients, and I have the ability to create a unique and very beautiful outfit. I have an internship at Oxymoron which
is a clothing store on fabric row. This gives me a lot of experience in dealing with clients and understanding the
ins and outs of being in the fashion industry. I also have a mentor in the fashion and business world who can help
support this organization.
As I stated earlier this topic has already been addressed by a lot of older women. Two of them are the
Cheyenne River Youth project and The F-Factor. Both of these programs are for young women only, and they
both support troubled young women. They include mentors who are older women and have multiple workshops to
choose from. These two programs usually support girls between the ages 13-18. These programs have an
advantage because they have a bigger space and give more services opportunities like sheltering, internship
programs, art institution, and foster children. They have a great mission and have found a great way to give back
but still they are not like Aniyah Ashantie. Aniyah Ashantie i ncludes helping with self esteem while giving young
girls the tools they need to be a step closer to making their passion a reality. Most young girls like myself are
interested in fashion and would like to someday own a clothing line. I am not only helping these girls pursue their
dreams but I am also helping them become their better self and making sure they understand and know what’s
going on around them. Once I’m done with them their college resumes will be looking amazing.
The community needs Aniyah Ashantie. F or starters, we need to fix this problem in our young women. We
need this problem to decrease and the confidence of young women to recover at least by 30% to decline theyre
often experience. Our girls deserve to be happy and feel comfortable in their own bodies. They shouldn't have to
feel like they need to look like other women to fit in. in addition, Aniyah Ashantie also feels a gap in the fashion
community. There are not a lot of mentors in the fashion business who are willing to help young women pursue
their dreams and Aniyah Ashantie exists to fill that void.

Competitive advantage/Market
My target is young women who are self conscious and interested in fashion, or just open to having
the experience. A lot of young women are very self conscious with low self-esteem and little to no
confidence at all. These girls are not happy with their appearance or feel like they're not good enough.
These girls will mostly likely be from the West Philadelphia area but Aniyah Ashantie is open for all young
women from the ages twelve to eighteen. The most important thing to these girls are feeling good in the
public eye. They don’t want to be afraid of being around other kids their age or to feel like they don’t
belong. Another thing that’s important to them is building their career at a young age and getting a
glimpse of the fashion world. These girls need to build their self-esteem and learn the in’s and out’s of
fashion. I can meet their needs by the workshops I described earlier on and helping them with building
their career and college resume.
Getting clients will be a challenge, but one that I am suited to solve. My first goal is to find
participants. The best way to get young women to join my program is by going from school to school to
present my organization in person. The hardest thing will be getting the girls to come to the first meeting.
Serving food will help me get the girls in the room. Once they come to that meeting I know my message
and my mission will convince them to stay. The first school I'll start with is mine, The Workshop School. I’ll
go around the school and let teachers know about my program, just to make sure they are okay with me
taking some of the girls out of the class, while letting them know I would like for them to also inform the
young women. I will create a social media that promotes LittleGoGetters and my entire program
AniyahAshantie. This promote system helps me reach more clients by showing more of my followers what
I post. I will know I reached a lot of people when more followers start to roll in and my views began to
grow.
I will maintain my clients by making sure they experience a positive change in how they feel about
themselves, educated with knowledge about the community, and they are very satisfied their clothes. I will
be very understanding and patient. I will not over charge any of the customers, youth program is free. The
way I will maintain my participants will be by “moving up the chain” this means that each year they return
to the program they will have a new role in the Aniyah Ashantie c ommunity. For example, for the first year
me and any other older women will be the mentor of all the young girls. The next year you return you’ll be
qualified to be a mentor.

Closing
Change starts with US. Women, Females, Girls, we have the world in our hands. But how will we grab if
we are not united? The Women community needs AniyahAshantie. This program will not only help the
next generation but many generations after that. We need to love ourselves before we can learn to love
anyone else. Once our confidence is up, our power will be united. So lets do it, ¨Dominate with my girls.
Kill the fashion world¨ AniyahAshantie.
