Narrative Report

This 2nd semester we had our OJT or On the job training wherein we will enter
company and do task as what our supervisor will instruct us. Through this, we will have
experience on how the employment goes and not just depending on the lectures we had
for the past semesters.
As I had my On the Job Training, I entered LG Electronics Inc. located in F.
Legaspi St. Maybunga, Pasig City. I started there on November 27, 2019, I was
assigned at Order Management Department which is about processing purchase orders
from different dealers. At first I thought that it is far from my course but I also thought
that it would help me a lot especially in using computer and have more knowledge in
Microsoft Excel which will be useful for me in the future. As my first day start, they
asked me to observe first and introduce myself to them. They give me some basic
introduction of what I will do during on the job training, they told me that I will assist
them to encode the purchase orders of some dealers, also every month I was also
asked to sort and file the purchase orders that has been processed.
During my stay there, I saw how workplace differ on what I thought it was. Every
morning we have this so-called “Nice Day Meeting” wherein after the morning prayer,
each department will have a small meeting wherein they can talk about work. In the
department where I was assigned, they just talks about something irrelevant to work
because for them it starts the nice day if they don't talk much about how toxic work is.
After the nice day meeting, the work starts then I will ask them if they have task to give
me, sometimes they give me and sometimes they will just ask me to take a sit and wait
them to give me some task. At first, I had some difficulties regarding on using computer
since the nature of my work or task is to encode but as the time goes by, I already get
used to it. One time, there was a product that was encoded wrong and they asked me
that next time I should be careful in encoding. Because of that mistake, I really did my
best to avoid error next time before I save the orders, I make some double checking for
assurance that there is no error.
As the month of December came, Christmas Party are spreading everywhere, so
as our Department had the Christmas Party, I saw how they handle events. Also, we
had our exchange gifts and food. After that day, we had the usual routine and get back
to work. As the day passed by, I saw their funny sides and they start to talk to me not
related to work, but as an intern, my mind set is that even though they are getting close
to them I should stick with what attitude I had on my first week, I still have limits on how
to interact them so whenever I will talk to them I choose my words to avoid issues.
Days passed by, and my tasks are starting to become wider from basics they
teached me the difficult one, at first I was so nervous in doing such new thing because I
am afraid that I may do it wrong. So I really make a careful move in terms of that slowly
at first but when I feel comfortable doing it, I started to do it faster than before and
thankfully I did it well. Also, aside from my department there is some employees asking
me to do some task and sometimes there is no given to me by our department, they
allow me to take some task from other department. On my experience on doing some
task in other department my typing skills improved than before, and also by doing the
task using excel helps me to explore more what Microsoft excel can do.
