Avery sound, well focussed submission. The paper was enhanced with the use of the
fishboning diagrams and the use of SWOT and APACS. However, the two latter
applications must be remembered as tools of analysis and do not constitute an
answer The paper was a comprehensive review of the principles and theories of
operations management and although it mentions TQM and quality management it might
have been improved with a closer focus on the quality assurance processes (Mention
of Shewhart cycles (PDCA), , Statistical Process Control (SPC), quality circles,
Kaizen culture, etc.). Additionally HOW is the process to be implemented, WHO by,
WHEN, WHAT is to be done, etc.? This is not to detract from a very sound piece of
work evident of some hard work on the student�s part. As managers we have to
describe The processes to our subordinates, colleagues and senior managers. We
cannot assume they are as well informed about systems as we are. Well Done.
