PROFESSIONALISM
Mr. Boshra demonstrated professionalism and dedication to the teaching profession. He coordinated his time
and ideas while being open, flexible, adaptable and respectful. He demonstrated excellent reflective practices
on his teaching experiences. For instance, during our check-in meetings, Mr. Boshra was able to realistically
look at the strengths and weaknesses of his lessons and took feedback well, applying new ideas and
suggestions to enhance their development as a teacher and lifelong learner. He was able to adapt readily to
changes in scheduling, often with little notice. For instance, Mr. Boshra regularly updated and adapted his long-
term plans due to disruptions caused by circumstances beyond his control such as snow days, assemblies, and
in class presentations. Despite these interruptions, Mr. Boshra was able to effectively deliver the units he was
responsible for.

DIVERSITY AND EQUITY
Mr. Boshra created an atmosphere of mutual respect and caring in the classroom by treating all students with
respect and care. His warm personality, friendly disposition and genuine interest in the students created a
welcoming environment for the students. For instance, for the Anthropology Unit, Mr. Boshra created a special
lesson for Valentine's Day on love and relationships. His lesson was very equitable because he used inclusive
language and terms without making assumptions about the students' identities. Mr. Boshra also created
assignments that celebrated each student's family heritage and cultural differences. It was clear that Mr. Boshra
appreciated not only the unique and interesting qualities of the students in the classroom but encouraged the
students to celebrate these individual and cultural diversities.

INVOLVEMENT IN SCHOOL / COMMUNITY LIFE
Mr. Boshra developed positive relationships with staff and students in a wide variety of settings within the
school. He voluntarily participated in duties, department, course meetings, and staff meetings. For instance, Mr.
Boshra attended a staff professional development on Developing Success Criteria For 21st Century Learners.
He also aided in planning and promoting the school's France trip for next year. Mr. Boshra also delivered pre-
made lessons by the school literacy committee designed to help the grade 10 students be successful on their
upcoming OSSLT test. Mr. Boshra is encouraged to look for more opportunities to participate in the school
community; this will help him to continue to develop a rapport with the students. .

UNDERSTANDING CURRICULUM AND THE LEARNER
Mr. Boshra displayed considerable knowledge of the courses he taught. Knowledge of subject content was
demonstrated with excellence. Mr. Boshra was tasked with teaching a course outside of his teachable and rose
to the challenge. He successfully delivered the World War I Unit for Grade 10 Canadian History using a variety of
teaching strategies, technologies, and incorporating visual aids. For instance, he guided students through
primary documents, simulation activities, and artifact analysis. These activities provided multiple opportunities

for students with different learning styles to engage with the material. In the Grade 11 Introduction to The Social
Sciences course, Mr. Boshra delivered lessons for the Anthropology Unit through whole class activities, guided
learning groups, and one-to-one instruction. He effectively accommodated for the learning styles of a student
with an IEP and met the needs of the English language learners in the class. Mr. Boshra also made use of the
Student Information System (SIS) so that he had a more complete profile of the learners in his class.

ASSESSMENT, PLANNING AND INSTRUCTION
Mr. Boshra delivers lessons that are appropriate to student abilities and ensures student involvement during
lessons and activities. He delivered a unit summative for anthropology where students were to create a written
response and deliver a visual/presentation to the class. The assigned tasks were appropriate for the various
levels of learners in the class so that they could all be successful. Mr. Boshra used both diagnostic and
summative assessment strategies including rubrics, observations, unit tests, and summative tasks to track
student process and assess student learning. He used the evidence he gathered to assess the students on their
learning skills for the progress reports that were sent home with the students. Mr. Boshra is encouraged to
continue to utilize the feedback of the students to ensure his assessment tasks are rich and relevant to their
diverse learning needs.

CLASSROOM MANAGEMENT
From the beginning of his placement, Mr. Boshra learned the rule and routines of the class and adopted them as
his own, and developed some of his own to accommodate his learning goals for the students. He ensured that
the students were aware of the expected standards of behaviour by modeling desired behaviour. Mr. Boshra
was very organized in the planning and preparing of his lessons, thus contributing to the successful delivery and
the flow of his teaching. For instance, he coordinated with another teacher to combine their classes for a period
to run a World War I experiential activity. Mr. Boshra is encouraged to continue to reflect on his classroom
management and be aware of the dynamics of the classroom.

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS
Mr. Boshra has demonstrated growth since the beginning of his practicum. He brought with him a strong
commitment to students' well being demonstrated by his continued commitment to promote a safe, inclusive,
and equitable environment in the classroom. I wish Mr. Boshra all the best in his future teaching endeavors. He
will be a welcomed addition to any staff team and a great teacher in the future.
