Lesson Plan

February 20, 2019

SUBJECT: Mathematics 7
CONTENT: Statistics and Probability
CONTENT STANDARD: Demonstrate understanding of key concepts, uses and importance
of Statistics, data collection/gathering and the different forms of
data presentation, measures of central tendency, measures of
variability, and probability.
PERFORMANCE STANDARD: Is able to collect and organize data systematically and compute
accurately measures of central tendency and variability and apply
these appropriately in data analysis and interpretation in different
fields.
LEARNING COMPETENCIES: Calculates the measure of central tendency of ungrouped and
grouped data.
CODE: M7SP-IVf-g-1

I. OBJECTIVES
At the end of the lesson, students should be able to:
a. Define the mean, median and mode.
b. Find the mean, median and mode of the given set of the data.
c. Describe the data in terms of the mean, median and mode.

II. SUBJECT MATTER

TOPIC: Measures of Central Tendency of Data
MATERIALS: Chalk, Laptop

III. A. Preparatory Activity

1. Prayer
2. Greetings
3. Checking of attendance
4. Setting of Classroom Standards
5. Review
Review on Sigma Notation
Solve the sets of data on the board: X1=85, X2=80, X3=88, X4=83, X5=87, X6=89,
X7=84, X8=80, X9=94, X10=90
x Σ i=1x Σ10i=6 x

B. LESSON Σ i=1PROPER
B.1 MOTIVATION .
From the given data above, arrange it in increasing order, that is from the lowest to greatest.
Then it would be: 85, 80, 88, 83, 87, 89, 84, 80, 94, 90.
Ask the students: What have they observe form the data.
Tell the class that aside from summation these data can be also summarized into a single
number.
Then relate and introduce the topic to be discussed.
B.2 ACTIVITY
Class discussion.
B.3 ANALYSIS
1. What is mean and its formula?
2. What is median and its formula when it falls between two values?
3. What is mode?

B.4 ABSTRACTION
1. Define mean, median and mode.
2. Find the mean, median and mode.
B.5 APPLICATION
BOARD WORK

IV. EVALUATION
The data below show the score of 40 students in the 2019 Division Achievement Test (DAT).
Analyse the given data and answer the questions below.

35, 16, 28, 43, 21, 17, 15, 16

20, 18, 25, 22, 33, 18, 32, 38
23, 32, 18, 25, 35, 18, 20, 22
36, 22, 17, 22, 16, 23, 24, 15
15, 23, 22, 20, 14, 39, 22, 38

1. What is the typical score to the group of students?

2. What score appears to be the median? How many students fail below that score (median)?
3. Which score frequently appears?
4. Find the mean, median and mode.
5. Describe the data in terms of the mean, median and mode.

V. ASSIGNMENT (½ Crosswise)
Find the mean, median and mode.
a. Twelve given a typing test and the times (in minutes) to compute the test were as follows:
8, 12, 15, 14, 19, 21, 24, 38
b. A shampoo manufacturer produces a bottle of with an advertisement content 310ml. A
sample of 16 bottles yielded the following contents.
297, 318, 306, 300, 322, 307, 312, 300, 311, 303, 291, 298, 315, 296, 309, 311

VI. Reflection:
Unfinished due to shortened time (43th Foundation Day practice and preparation of activities)
