RESEARCH
What did you learn This week my research started with the content of my
from your research? production. I learnt lots of information on what auto-tune
was and the history, positive and negative opinions on what
auto-tune has done to the music industry, facts about talent
shows on TV such as the X factor. This has helped me to see
what sort of facts and statistics that we could use in the
narration throughout. It has also helped develop my own
view on the subject has I now have a negative opinion on
auto-tune and talent shows. Lastly I did more research into
the two people we are planning on interviewing. The
interviewee’s in my production are going to be Steve Brain
from underdog and Tyriq Hamilton or Tyketk. I found out
about who they are as a person and information on their
music. This will later help when it comes to writing the
questions for the interview as I can base it on this.
Next I was moving onto the practical tasks and skills I will
need when filming my production. I looked at three different
skills these where how to set up and light an interview, how
to edit an interview and how to edit and documentary.
Once I found out how to do each I went onto practicing
myself where I put what I learnt to use to help me know what
I am doing before I start the filming weeks.
What work do you At the end of this week we are going into the Easter holiday.
need to complete To stay on track I will have to complete the rest of the
outside of lessons to research section on vibe. This includes research on the target
stay on track? audience, the platform and how is going to act and be in
the cast.
High Grade Tips
Research
• ‘Thorough research’ - include plenty of sources and detailed analysis of this
information
• ‘relevant & coherent’ – make sure your research sources are not just the same as the
Media product you hope to make - and talk about how they inform your planning
• ‘sustained’ – continue your research throughout the eleven-week project and don’t
just limit it to the first two weeks
• ‘accomplished & considered’ – all of the above referred to in your daily/weekly
reflections
