REPORT ON ORGANIZATION STUDY

DURATION – 15 Days

1. ARRANGEMENT OF CONTENTS:

The sequence in which the project report material should be arranged and bound
should be as follows:

2. PAGE DIMENSION AND BINDING SPECIFICATIONS:

The dimension of the project report should be in A4 size. The project report should be
bound and covered using flexible thick art paper of the colour predetermined for each
batch. The batch may unanimously decide upon a single uniform colour of the hard paper
for outer cover binding.

The cover should be printed in black letters and the text for printing should be as specified.
On the cover page,
- A frame/boundary must be given and then print the title etc within the frame.
- The frame size and appearance must be the same for all the reports.

The Name of the organisation and the name of the student should be printed
conspicuously on the spine of the project report.

3. TYPING INSTRUCTIONS:
The impression on the typed copies should be black in colour.
One and a half spacing should be used for typing the general text. The general
text shall be typed in the font style ‘Times New Roman’ and font size 14.
4. PREPARATION OF FORMAT:

4.1 Cover Page & title page – A specimen copy of the Cover page & Title page
of the project report are given in Appendix 1. A frame must be given on the outer
cover of the report and the size of the frame must be in such a way as to leave one
and a half inches on all four sides and then print the title etc. within the frame. The
frame size and appearance must be the same for all the projects. You can choose
the colour of the hard paper you use as outer cover for binding. The colour must
be the same for all.

4.2 Certificate from the Organisation – The Certificate from the Organisation
shall carry the supervisor’s signature and should contain the supervisor’s name,
designation, department and full address of the Organisation where the supervisor
has guided the student.

4.3 Declaration by Student to the effect that the work is bona fide and has not
formed part of any other submission. Each student shall insert the names of their
respective guides (organizational guide and faculty guide) on this format.

4.4 Certificate from the Institute- Appendix 5. (will be issued from office)

Please do not insert the names of the Director and the Principal above their
designations.
Please mention the name of your respective Faculty guide above the word 'Guide'

4.5 Table of Contents – The table of contents should list all material following it
as well as any material, which precedes it.
The Title Page and Certificate from Organisation will not find a place among the
items listed in the Table of Contents. One and a half spacing should be adopted
for typing the matter under this head.

4.6 List of Tables – The list should use exactly the same captions as they appear
above the tables in the text. One and a half spacing should be adopted for typing the
matter under this head. The page numbers where the tables appear should be shown on
the right hand side of this page.

4.7 (a) List of Figures/Graphs /Charts – The list should use exactly the same
captions as they appear below the figures in the text. One and a half spacing should be
adopted for typing the matter under this head.
4.7 (b) List of Symbols, Abbreviations and Nomenclature- Standard symbols,
abbreviations etc. should be used.
4.8 Industry Profile should contain a brief explanation of the international scenario
followed by the Indian state of affairs, data on volume, value, industry's prospects,
competitive landscape and leading companies and key macroeconomic variables affecting
the industry. Students shall use the most recent data and figures in this section.

4.9 Company Profile should be a summary or outline of the characteristics of the


company, business processes, and data on value, volume, trends, prospects,
competitors, other players, management or any other matter relevant in explaining
the characteristics of the company. Students shall use the most recent data and
figures in this section.
4.10 Organisation Structure –Organization chart is compulsory
4.11 Functional Areas –Each of the functional areas in the order in which they
are presented in the chart may be described. Charts and/ or figures to depict
structure in each case may be included.
4.12 Conclusion and Limitations of the study. Conclusions should be drawn
exclusively from the study.
4.13 References within the text of the report may be indicated at the end of the
sentence/paragraph which has been referred.
For example: (Smith, 2003)., (Hawkins, Best and Coney, 2005).

4.14 Bibliography All material drawn from whatsoever source must be


acknowledged without fail and the same should be appearing in the bibliography.
The listing of references should be typed 4 spaces below the heading
“Bibliography” in alphabetical order in single spacing left – justified. The reference
material should be listed in the alphabetical order of the first author. Sample given
in Appendix 4

4.15 Appendices -Appendices are provided to give supplementary information,


which if included in the main text may serve as a distraction and cloud the central
theme.

 Appendices should be numbered using Arabic numerals, e.g. Appendix 1,


Appendix 2, etc.
 Appendices, Tables and References appearing in appendices should be numbered
and referred to at appropriate places just as in the case of chapters.

4.16 Footnotes

 Footnotes should be used sparingly. These should be descriptions of terms, which


appear in the main text and is expected to make the reader understand terms
effortlessly. The terms, which are not familiar ones, should be given footnotes
properly. The meaning of those terms should be explained in the footnote in a
precise manner for the readers’ easy understanding. These should be typed single
space and placed directly underneath in the very same page, which refers to the
material they annotate.
