1. INTRODUCTION: Classroom Routines, Articulating Learning Objectives (10 minutes)
2. MOTIVATION: Pair Work with Guide Questions (10 minutes)
3. INSTRUCTION/DELIVERY: Reading Circles and Plenary Discussion (30 minutes)
4. PRACTICE: Identifying the Theme (10 minutes)
5. ENRICHMENT : Theme Discussion
6. EVALUATION: Writing a short literary text containing the literary devices.

PROCEDURE MEETING LEARNERS’


NEEDS
1. INTRODUCTION
At the end of the course learners should:
-Understand the objectives of the course and gain a top-level awareness of the topics that shall

2. MOTIVATION
(10 Minutes)
SQUAD WORK: Stuff It. Instruct the class to work with their squad with a maximum of five
members. Provide a 1/4 size cartolina which has a drawing of a "balikbayan" box in each. Let them
draw some stuff that can be found in a typical "balikbayan" box. Ask each squad to present their
work.

3. INSTRUCTION / DELIVERY
(15 Minutes)
-Have the learners go to their groups.
-Inform them that they will use Reading Circle as they read and discuss the text.
-Make sure that in a group there is a Discussion Leader, Summarizer, 2 Link Makers, and Word
Wizard. Making connections from the text
*Discussion Leader: Will make sure that all member of the group are talking and sharing their to real life experiences.

*Summarizer: will take note of all the discussed ideas in the group, should note all key pointers.
*Link Makers: Should connect the text to real-life situations.
*Word Wizard: Will unlock the meaning of difficult words and share it to the class.
-As each group processes the text using the Reading Circles, go around the classroom to take
note of their discussions.

-Make sure the learners are speaking in complete sentences.


-Intervene only in group discussions when necessary.
-Process the activity in plenary; ask the word wizards of the difficult words, ask the summarizers
to share what they’ve discussed.
-Focus on unrooting the Theme of the Story.

4. PRACTICE
By this time, learners are able to identify themes in a text/literary piece. As a class, learners will
guess the possible themes of the movie trailers and ask them to justify their answers.

Learners will pick a literary piece of their choice from the Philippine Diaspora. They have to identify
the theme present in the text and share it to the class.

6. EVALUATION
Learners will be working in pairs. They will write a short literary text (haiku, tanaga, prose,
