Should death penalty be abolished around the world?

This is the question that has

been in people’s mind for quite some time. In today’s society, when death penalty is
being carried out, there will always be two sides of opinion. One would be “good, so we
can finally get rid of another bad guy” while another would be “why would anyone do
this act of cruelty?, everyone deserves to live” It is an unending argument between good
and bad or is it? Today I’ll be representing my point of view on this.

Crimes that happens today usually winds up with the criminals serving some time
inside prison or being under house arrest, but when the worst happened, the criminals
had death penalties on their head. But the risk executing the wrong person is high, it
may serve as a crime deterrent but it can’t always be trusted because human error is
susceptible and when it has been executed it’s no longer reversible, but some people
would like that to happen because they lose their loved ones to the accused and they
have the reasons like “...so they could never do that again” this happens because of
clouded judgement due to anger, grief, sadness, etc. and because of clouded
judgement, the victims family wouldn’t think of the accused family when their beloved
one is about executed, especially when the accused have already been executed and
turns out to be innocent so it’s a lose and lose situation. “There is no conclusive
evidence of the deterrent value of the death penalty” (UNGA resolution 65/206) but
there is another point of view on this.
Sometimes crime has to be taken very seriously, and it’s appropriate to point that
death penalty helps to minimize crime and also acts as a reminder to those who may
have their own motivations on their “bad intentions” but it also good to punish those
people who has to serve lifetime in prison because they might kill people again when
coming out of prison. Speaking of killing, death penalty happens because if someone
take the others’ life, they have thrown their rights live out of the window in that moment
(Lawteacher.net, December 2018) and that is based on ancient law called
“Hammurabi’s code” from ancient Mesopotamia, where it’s main philosophy is “eye for
an eye” it means that if you do something terrible, the punishment will equal that of what
you have committed.

In conclusion, death penalties may be seen as something good or bad but that based
solely on the perspective you are looking from. For me it’s fine if we still adopt this
method of punishment but it shouldn’t be used very often because it may cause civil
unrest especially with people who doesn’t agree with death penalty. In the end it
depends on the people if they can change or not, to become a better person so we no
longer needs to use this method of punishment.
