Subject: PX Ranger MkII Fuel Gauge Returns to Empty after a Full Tank
Refill

Models: Certain PX Ranger MkII vehicles built from 01-Jul-2015 to 06-Jan-


2016.

Summary: Certain PX Ranger MkII vehicles built from 01-Jul-2015 to 06-Jan-


2016 may have their fuel gauge reading change from 'Full' to
below 'Empty' following a fuel tank refill to full capacity. This may
initiate a Powertrain Control Module (PCM) 'run dry strategy' and
consequently prevent an engine restart.

Action: To remedy this concern, technicians are advised to re-program the


Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) to the latest service calibration
following the Service Procedure below.

Warranty Status: Reimbursable within the provisions of the Warranty and Policy
Manual.

Service Procedure

Step-1 Connect IDS to the vehicle.

Step-2 Reprogram the IPC to the latest service calibration using IDS release 100.04 or
later. Make sure you are connected to the internet when entering module
programming to obtain the latest updates. Calibration files may also be obtained at
http://www.fordtechservice.dealerconnection.com.
