Audrah has been chosen
as the 2019 Parade Marshal
for next month’s Minnedosa
Fun Fest Parade, sponsored
by the local Chamber of
Commerce. When asked if
she was surprised by the in-
vitation, Audrah joked, “Not
really. How many 104-year
old’s do they actually have
to choose from?”

Upon graduation, Audrah
secured a custodial job at the
Cameron School for a wage
of $15.00 a month. “Living
in the country, if you got a
job in Minnedosa that meant
you had to pay for room and
board and that doesn’t leave
much money left over from
the pay cheque,” explained
Audrah. “But getting a job
in the country, at a country
school, meant that I could
live at home and still work.
So that worked out great for
me.”
Audrah worked at the
Cameron School for one
year and recalls that year
quite fondly. “I had a lot of
gentlemen callers and we
went to lots of dances and
to the shows at the Lyric
Theatre. It was such a great
year,” recalled Audrah, with
a sparkle in her eyes.
From here, Audrah
travelled to Winnipeg to
take teachers training for
one year. Once completed,
she taught at Deer Range
School, south of Neepawa,
for four years. Through-
out this time, teachers were
not allowed to teach if they
