I MOBILISATION

1 Mobilization of necessary plant, LS

equipment, men and materials for the
complete Geo-technical investigation work
(at both locations) as per specifications,
drawings and instructions of the engineer
and to complete the same within the
stipulated time schedule and
demobilization after completion of field
work.
II FIELD TESTS

1-a Setting up boring at each borehole location Nos.

as per the borehole layout drawings and as
per the instructions of the engineer,
including water charges
1-b Setting up boring at each borehole location Nos.
as per the borehole layout drawings and as
per the instructions of the engineer (Water
supply by Agency)
2 Boring 150mm nominal diameter bore
holes in all kinds of soils/ refusal strata/
soft rock/ hard rock with adequate/ suitable
equipment and approved method of boring
including chiseling, cleaning, providing
casing pipe as required or as per directions
of the engineer-in-charge; for depths
measured below existing ground level;
a) Boring in all kinds of soil (having SPT RM
N<100) (for depths between 0.0m to
15.0m)
b) Boring in all kinds of soil (having SPT RM
N<100) (for depths between 15.0m to
30.0m)
c) Boring in all kinds of soil with refusal RM
strata/residual soil/ highly weathered
rock/soft rock (having SPT-N>100 and CR
< 20% & qc < 10 MPa)
d) Boring in all kinds of medium rocks/ RM
moderately weathered rock (for CR
ranging from 20% to 75% and qc ranging
from 10MPa to 50MPa)
e) Boring in all kinds of hard rocks/fresh RM
rocks/ slightly weathered rocks (having
CR > 75% and qc > 50 MPa)
3 Conducting standard penetration test(as Nos
per IS:2131) and collecting disturbed soil
samples at every 1.5m intervals; at the
change of strata; at the depths wherever
undisturbed soil samples could not be
collected; at the locations where core
recovery is less than 20% (or) at depths of
discontinuity on encountering of rock and
at depths of borehole termination;
transportation of all the collected samples
to the laboratory complete as per the
specifications and as per the directions of
the engineer-in-charge
4 Collecting undisturbed soil samples (UDS) Nos.
from boreholes (in cohesive soils -3 nos.
(appx.) per borehole) and sealing the
container and transportation of all the
collected samples to the laboratory.
(The borehole wise sampling shall be
planned, so as to cover all existing
cohesive stratifications across all boreholes
in the site)
III LABORATORY TESTS ON SOILS

Conducting various laboratory tests on

selective soil samples (as per IS codes of
practice) at an approved laboratory,
including preparation of soil samples to
determine the following properties of soil,
all complete as per specification.
1 Grain size analysis (sieve analysis) on Nos.
SPT/ UDS samples at 1.50m depth
intervals
2 Grain size analysis (Hydrometer analysis) Nos.
of fine grained soils (on SPT/ UDS
samples)
3 Liquid limit and Plastic limit on cohesive Nos.
soils (on selective UDS and SPT samples)
4 Natural moisture content, Bulk density and Nos.

cohesive soils(on selective 2 samples per
borehole)
8 Direct shear test (CD testing) on cohesive Nos.
soils(on selective 2 samples per borehole)
9 Chemical analysis of top foundation soils Nos.
for sulphates, chlorides, PH value, organic
matter etc. (on selective 4 samples per site)

10 Chemical analysis of top Ground Water Nos.

(which can be in contact with foundations)
for sulphates, chlorides, PH value, organic
matter etc. (on selective 4 samples per site)
IV LABORATORY TESTS ON ROCKS

Conducting various laboratory tests on

selective soil samples (as per IS codes of
practice) at an approved laboratory,
including preparation of soil samples to
determine the following properties of soil,
all complete as per specification.

samples per borehole)
2 Unconfined compressive strength (soaked) Nos.
(on selective 2 samples per borehole)
