Moteaons Roser Without Poe Note FA-250 — 250mm Marine Lantern The FA-250 marine lantern combines modern ma- terials with anew order of precision in plastic lens molding and a marine grade aluminum base with stainless steel hardware. It provides candlepower values more than twice those from conventional pressed glass lenses. Acrylic plastic has better optical characteristics, higher transmission and its refractive index and color are easily controlled. The acrylic lens cover optimises light output by protecting the lens from dust, rain and other contaminates, which severely degrade the performance of an unprotected fresnel lens. ‘A unique optical bird spike diverts the light nor mally lost through the top of the lantern to the horizontal beam. This bird spike increases candle- power output by 8%. ‘The FA-250 can do many jobs. It serves as a basic 360° omni-directional light. One or two condens- ing panels may be added between the lens and caver to praduce directional or bi-directional con- centrated beams for channel marking. Each panel intercepts 60° of light and refracts it into a narrow, intense bean. The beam from the condensing panels has ap- proximately ten times the candlepower value of the lens without panels. The lantern is visible omni-directionally with condensing panels. The lantern is available in high-wattage venti- lated versions, and can be provided with sectioned cover lenses to project an infinite variety of color sectors. FA-250 lantern base is made of corrosion: resistant aluminum. Two silicone rubber O-rings provide an airtight seal. The lens and base assemblies are hinged for easy access to the lampchanger and flasher me- chanism. Electrical access is through a %” NPT threaded entry in the base of the lantern, A second 34” NPT entry is provided for either the external photo cell, ‘or connection to another lantern, Internal photo cells are available. Focusing marks in the lens provide an accurate means for centering the lamp filament. The many lampchangers available are listed in other catalog sections.
