Introduction

The Bank of Tanzania Act, 2006 and the Banking and Financial Institutions Act, 2006
mandate the Bank of Tanzania (BOT) to license, regulate and supervise Banking
Institutions in Tanzania. As a regulator, BOT is entrusted with the responsibility of
ensuring stable, sound and safe banking sector and financial system at large. In
discharging this responsibility, it is in the interest of BOT to ensure that the financial
system stimulates mortgage lending as an important means of promoting decent
and affordable housing for citizens of Tanzania.

Mortgage lending is the major mechanism used in many countries to finance


private ownership of residential and commercial properties. Development of real
estate sector has not become evident in many towns and cities in Tanzania. The
mortgage market in Tanzania has been growing steadily as the pace of housing
investment picks up. In the same line, the use of mortgage loans for developing
private homes or commercial properties is now gaining popularity in banking
institutions and other stakeholders. This program will provide mortgage solutions to
participants in hands-on training workshop, with an interactive, practical and a non-
theoretical approach.

Objective of the Course

At the end of this course, the participants will have the required knowledge in
management of housing loans and be able to prevent any negative economic
impact resulting from bad mortgage loans. This program will offer participants a
hands-on experience based on group exercises and case studies.

Target Group

This course will benefit professionals who carries out mortgage financing role in
banking institutions, real estate and other players /stakeholders. The course is
designed specifically for professionals working in the field of banking, real estate
and pension funds.

Fee:
Fee for each participant is TZS 1.0 million or USD 500 for non-residents covering
tuition, course materials, lunch and mid-session refreshments (tea/coffee and
snacks). Participants will be responsible for their travel costs and upkeep. Please pay
