Course: TTVET 291 Diploma in Teaching Technical Vocational and Training (Business/Technical)
Hours: 4 Hours

Course Description

The course aims to prepare students in competency based teaching methods in theory and
practical applications. The course analyses different curriculum policies in the country and
emphasizes more on competency based training methods and skills to prepare students to be
competent classroom practitioners in their area of expertise in TVET subjects. The course looks
at differences of OBE, CBE and OBE, the role of a teacher, teaching skills and methods and
designing instructional resources. It prepares students for their micro – teaching practices and
teaching practices respectfully thereafter.

Learning Objectives
At the end of the Semester, students should be able to competently describe and
1 familiarize the teaching profession
2 express the role of a teacher
3 be competent in curriculum design
4 build confidence in applying teaching skills
5 be confident in classroom control and management
6 interpret theory and demonstrate in clinical practices
7 compare and contrast different teaching methods
8 prepare, plan and execute lesson plans
