Moraca is the new WVCIEERD chairperson


WESTERN Visayas Consortium for Industry, Energy, and Emerging Technology Research and
Development (WVCIEERD) elected Central Philippines State University’s President Dr. Aladino C.
Moraca as the new chairperson succeeding the 8-year service of West Visayas State University’s (WVSU)
President Dr. Luis M. Sorolla, Jr.
The election was conducted during the 1st Research and Development Executive Committee Meeting of the
WVCIEERD held last May 10, 2019 at Eon Centennial Plaza Hotel where Iloilo State College of Fisheries’
(ISCOF) President Dr. Godelyn G. Hisole was also elected as the vice chairperson of the consortium.
Moraca and Hisole will be serving the consortium for three (3) years.
In the meeting, the member-institutions had their ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Agreement
(MOA) to reaffirm their commitments to WVCIEERD.
At present, WVCIEERD is composed of 21 member-institutions which are mostly government and private
universities and colleges in Western Visayas. They are the leading institutions that are conducting R&D
activities related to Industry, Energy, and other Emerging Technologies in the region.
