Sheet Title Explaination

Cell Color Meanings
Full Ops Red you fill the data
Light Blue Cells autoocalculated, don't alter anything
This has all number associated with evertything below row 11. If you want to make full
use of this sheet, enter the data as I have it for my own plane, and the number at the Dark/Light Purple Titles
top should populate. It's that simple! Yellow Explainations
Operation Costs
Summary
Overall costs per hour and so much more as it pertains to owning a C172A, hangared,
in Middle Tennessee.
Leaseback
Costs/Income
Start in column B/C and fill in all the red cells from top to bottom. Then go to column E
and fill in from top to bottom. Don't forget about the hour rental rate for the plane you
might want ot put into leaseback. The chart at the bottom should auto-calculate based
on the data you just entered. If it's a red cell to the right of the hours flown, then you're
going to be loosing money. If green, then that's a profit. You can mess around in cell
B37 to enter different hours per month flown to see what your break-even point is.
Theoretical
Operation

Enter in the data in columns C and F and excel should shoot out
numbers below that in the blue cells, B19 through B23. If you want to
ONLY compare speed and fuel consumption and how much it will
cost based on speed and gallons per hour, fill out the red cells in
column J and K, respectively.

Performance

While the fuel burn is geared towards my 172, other parts of this
sheet can be used. Considering going to another field for fuel? Use
the top calculations to enter fuel prices and other data for the plane
(climb rate, speed) and see if it's worth going to that other airport for
cheaper fuel.

Digital NavLog

Pretty self explainatory. Download the sheet as a excel document

and you can enter your information as you would a nav log, except
everything is calculated. This is NOT bulletproof so doulbe check
your number and make sure they make sense. I guarantee no
accuracy in the formulas or other calculations

Takeoff
Distance

Not entirely accurate, but once you enter your takeoff data into the
table on the right, the caluclations should work out on the left table.
This is NOT bulletproof so doulbe check your numbers against your
POH and make sure they make sense. I do not guarantee any
accuracy in this sheet.

PPL Flight
Training
Requirements

Intent to be used for CFI's to track their student's progress. I'm not a
CFI so this will be more set up in the coming time to figure out a
better way to present the data

Theoretical
Operation #2
A different way to present operational costs, with a few other
additons, if you'd like
Airplane
Comparison
Pretty self-explainatory. Working on getting a graph that will
automatically show graphable things like costs, TBO, etc to be a
more visual representation of comparing. Cells will auto color to
green based on certain paramaters (lowest cost, highest TBO time,
highest time before you'll need to overhaul, lowest cruise GPH,
highest cruise speed, etc)
Fuel Burn vs.
Speed

Graph derived from my average speed and what fuel I burned for
that TANK of fuel. You can see, the slower I fly, the less I burn.

Fuel Burn vs.

Cruise RPM
Still working on making this better. I haven't been so good at tracking
my RPM during flights, which would make this sheet much more
accurate. Should prove worthy for most all airplanes from GA to jets

OSH Packing
List
Continually modified version of what to take to Airventure. Order is
back of baggage (last needed) to front (needed first, regularly). Just
change your categories and just type yes when packed. Once all
categories say yes, the Double Check will change and go to a green
cell reading "Packed" - the category will also changed based on if
there's Double Check or Packed.

Hours by Month
I mean, it's pretty much tracking hours I fly per month, tracking total a
year and then showing it on a graph
Google
Analytics
I use Google Analytics to anonymously track number of views for my
sheet. I make $0 on this spreadsheet, just want to track views is all
PNP
Keeping dibs on my Pilots N Paws (www.pilotsnpaws.org) missions
for tax purposes
C-172A Flip
Checklist
Custom checklist for my airplane. It is meant to be folded into 1/4
and used top left to bottom left, top right to bottom right, flip and to
the same. Change out what you need for your airplane. Make sure -

[1] Fuel price where you want to fly to

[2] Time to get to the other airport, including taxi time

[3] A Small Triangle at the top right means there is a note attached to this cell for usage instructions

[4] Fuel price at the airport you're wanting to leave

[5] If you dipped your tanks now, what would it take, total, to fill them up?

[6] What altitude do you have to go to get to the other airport?

[7] The field elevation of the airport you want to leave

[8] Round Trip Total for Fuel ASSUMING same return cruise altitude, no "playing around"

[9] If this cell is green, you should stay at the airport you're at

[10] If this cell is green it's worthwhile to GO to the other airport for cheaper fuel

[24] Rental rate for IFR 172 @ $135/hr wet

[25] Total of oil. I'm using/burning 1 qt about every 3.5 hrs. I get my oil in bulk of 12 qts to a case for around
$65/case, so instead of a $9 qt of oil, it's less than $6/qt

[26] Total Oil Costs for 12QTs in a pack around $63/e vs $9/qt at the FBO

[27] Hourly cost from 0 hours to 50, or 100, 150, etc hours of flying. I found which row got me the closest to
the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent divided by 50, or 100, or 150

[28] Take the number below and to the right and add the overhaul cost in the "Theoretical Operation" sheet
and you'll arrive at this number

[29] Total cost of only fuel and oil spent (cell D7 and E3, respectively) divided by total hours flown (cell T3)

[30] Loan Interest + Fuel Costs + Payment Costs + MX Costs + Hangar Costs + Oil Costs

[31] Airplane insurance is cheap, less tan $600 the first year and $484 the second

[32] Hourly cost from 0 hours to 50, or 100, 150, etc hours of flying. I found which row got me the closest to
the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent divided by 50, or 100, or 150

[33] Total of EVERYTHING divided by total "hobbs**" hours flown

**Since I dont' have a Hobbs meter, this value calculated based on engine start and stop time

[34] The above "Wet" cost split 2 ways between you and another passenger

[35] Rental plus interest minus what I've spent on flying ends up being the total "saved" instead of renting.

[36] If you look at cell X9, I have days of ownership. So, I do that number divided by 31 to give me amount
of months I've owned a plane and then the total spent is divided by however many months I've owned. This
is an "average" cost of owning. Some times I'll fly more or less and it balances out to this.

[38] Total fuel costs spent (cell D7) divided by total horus flown (cell T3). This number will not change
based on loan payment

[39] The above "Wet" cost split 2 ways between you and 2 other passengers

[40] Cost of Loan to Date, based on days in cell V7/365 to give interest on the loan up to today's date

[41] How much I could have gained investing the same amount of money over the same amount of time in
stock, IRA, etc instead of spending it

[42] Hourly cost from 0 hours to 50, or 100, 150, etc hours of flying. I found which row got me the closest to
the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent divided by 50, or 100, or 150

[43] Total payment costs spent (cell D8) divided by total horus flown (cell T3). This number WILL change
based on loan payment and hours flown

[44] The above "Wet" cost split 2 ways between you and 3 other passengers. Make sure to check your
Weight and Balance to make sure you're not over gross for your flight

[45] Total of all fuel costs since purchase, to include $0.00 if someone else filled up my tank or we split
costs

[46] Difference between what I calculated operational cost to be vs what it actually is based on this
spreadsheet of costs

[47] Hourly cost from 0 hours to 50, or 100, 150, etc hours of flying. I found which row got me the closest to
the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent divided by 50, or 100, or 150

[48] Total maintenance (mx) costs spent (cell D9 divided by total hours flown (cell T3). This number will not
change based on loan payment but will based on hours flown and more on a yearly basis because of the
annual each year.

[49] If you were putting aside an overhaul fund (aka "kitty) this should be in the bank. It's total TACH hours
(cell T4) multiplied by Theoretical Operation cell B20. In my case, I should be putting away an ADDITIONAL
$50 per hour towards an overhaul assuming the input time left before overhauling the engine.

[50] Total of payments, which are $311.06. This isn't perfect since I had some issues with the loan bank
and had some additional stuff taken out but it all reduced the total loan amount in the end.

[51] Difference between what I calculated operational cost to be vs what it actually is. Negative numbers
are "bad" and I'm spending more per hour than calculated

[53] Total oil costs spent (cell D9 divided by total hours flown (cell T3). This number will not change based

[54] Total of all maintenance (annual, mainly).

Oil costs are kept seperate

[55] Hourly cost from 0 hours to 50, or 100, 150, etc hours of flying. I found which row got me the closest to
the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent divided by 50, or 100, or 150

[56] Total hangar costs spent (cell D10 divided by total hours flown (cell T3). This number will not change
based on loan payment

[57] Total hangar cost. At first this was about 14 months of tie-down, then $265/mo and then $255 from
here on out

[58] Total fuel costs spend (cell E4 divided by total hours flown (cell T3). This number will not change based
on loan payment but will based on hours flown

[59] Amount Total Paid if there was no payment or interest in a loan

[60] Amount Total Paid if there was no payment or interest in a loan

[61] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[62] Placer cell so I know when I need to check my seat tracks. They're do every 100 hrs. It ends up being
100 (hrs) minus the total sum of hours since annual

[63] Since I don't have an actual hobbs meter, logged time is engine start to engine stop

[64] Cost per hour below and to the right plus overhaul cost per hour from the "Theoretical Operation" sheet
cell

[65] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

(hrs) minus the total sum of hours since annual

[67] actual total tach time back on tach reading

[68] Total costs spent for fuel, maintenance, hangar, oil, insurance, divided by total hours flown

[69] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[70] Reminder of what the tach time will read for when the seat track AD is due

[71] average of column J which is tank average gallons per hour

[72] Total costs spent ONLY for fuel and oil, divided by total hours flown

[73] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[74] Reminder of what the tach time will read for when the ignotion AD is due, which I can do myself

[75] average of column K which is tank average gallons per hour

[76] The different of paying with cash vs having a loan payment. Cell J4 minus N5

[77] What it costs per hour to operate per hour counting interest and loan payments minus paying with
cash. It's cell H3 minus L4

[78] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[79] Columns X keeps track of when I'm adding oil and Z is keeping track of how often from the last tach
reading. This would be useful to know if I ended up adding a quart every hour or more often than the
average.

[80] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[81] Just wanted to know

[82] I found which row got me the closest to the hours I wanted to portray and have all costs spent for that
particular amount of hours divided by 50, or 100, or 150 hours of flying, respectively

[83] TBO time of 1800 hrs minus the total time SMOH above

[84] Monthly costs only

[85] Monthly costs from one colum left plus the hourly cost times the hours flown. No matter what, you're
going to pay the leaseback monthly costs. Then add in what it will cost you for the plane to operate at a set
hours flown from column B20 to B37.
